How important is your star to you?

**I am referring to the star beside your username.
The first time I received my star, if I remember it right, it was 8.
And I was sad wishing it was lower and close to 1.
I never knew that 1 is the lowest.
So, I wished and wished that it will never get lower than that.
Until it became red, then finally blue, then became red again, then stable at blue.
I was so happy that it stabilized to that. It's important to me, I don't know why. It looks good, so cool in the eyes.
But seriously, I know it's my rating and so with everyone else. So we should be proud of whatever it is that's beside our names. When it's low, I know you know what to do. If not, then I don't know.
How about you guys?
Do you have a story regarding your star?
Thanks in advance for sharing!

I think I still have half way to go before it turns blue. I know first hand it went down when I started to get into some discussions in religion. I'd just try to avoid that and topics in politics if I care enough to prevent my star from falling down...

Yup, star 1 is the lowest and star 10 is the highest. Although i do not have any star yet, i am still not sure what number i will be getting. But regardless, i will still enjoy gaining experiences and learning in mylot always.
I understand that the star beside our username is very important, as our quality post and personality are taken into consideration by the members who rated. Hence, i really respect those with high stars. They are my pattern to learn here at myLot. =)

1 isn't the lowest???
...they disappear altogether?
Oh, my, that's too bad.
I thought it's 1.
Good to know that dear mike.
Thanks for the information.
@joycseer, you've passed halfway, you can do it to the 100!
thanks for the respect (since I have the blue star)
really appreciate it. (blush)

Hi mike! I did not know that 1 is not the lowest star. Well, it does make sense if their star totally disappears if their reputation is so bad and low at mylot. However, how come if someone's reputation is over 100, has no star? Doesn't this cause confusion or misunderstanding between the lowest reputation and highest reputation? Please correct me if wrong...i am not sure if i understand it correctly. Thanks in advance! =)
Hi adnileb, yup i have passed halfway already. Hehehe.. You are very much welcome, and thank you for your encouragement to me. I will surely work onto to it and will not disappoint you! =D

hi adnileb, for me, i treat the reputation number in the star as something more important than the rating number in the bracket. i don't really care if my rating number is low, but my reputation number cannot be low.
to be honest, i have never seen my star reputation lower than 10 since four years ago when i first reached the rating number of 100. and of course, i don't wish to see it changing at any time in the future too. however, within these years i did notice that my detailed reputation dropped from 100/100 to 98/100. i hope that it will not continue to drop in times to come...

yeah, it used to be 100/100 but it dropped to 98/100 and remains there until now. hopefully it won't continue to drop... otherwise i will see red star for the first time after near to five years as member. i'm not sure down to what extent it will become red, maybe 95 or 90?

Hi adnileb
Ah, I had never any thoughts about the stars, ratings etc here when I had started at MyLot. even today, I do not appreciate them as I see them as a discrimination rather than a recognition of anything.
For the colors... well I think there were days in between when there was a glitch and many had lost their stars - for about a day or two and there were many who were scared. Except those days, the star when it turned blue for me, has stayed that way and I am happy that I have been doing things in some good ways and that has earned me some appreciation.

@sid- I still had a blue star on those days of crisis took over MyLot, I had a blue with rating of 1 if I remember right! And you know with my real name means 'blue' and me suny, nothing else makes any difference.
@ Beli- Tell me- have you gotten rid of your health problems and feeling no more irritated?

Hi adnileb! I was so happy when I first got my star when I reach 100. That was yellow with a number 8 inside. Then it became red until I finally get blue. But I remember a time when it goes down to 9 so I became worried and evaluate myself. The next day, I saw it became blue again and I was able to maintain it that way.

From blue? Well, If I am not mistaken, I started a discussion about a friend wherein I shared some negative thoughts about that friend. Some members responded differently so I am on the defense of my side.
So after that I tried to refrain from this kind of topic where I am talking negatively about others. But I am not so sure about it.

The best way to look at your star is to use lenses with dark blue glasses. Darker the blue in shade better the star; better still have 100/100 engraved on them. That must keep you cool and feeling right on the top. I have a dark blue pair of specks but the glasses faded a little so I do not find as dark blue and then you know the effects of age can make some differences as well, wot say?

In my eyes, the star likes a score in mylot.
To many people, the score you get in your school can present you are a good students or not. So here many mylot members will just the quality of your post my your star before they read it. It can be regarded as the first impression.

hi adnileb yes I do as when I first came here I w rote a discussion on smoking being bad for your health evidently it pissed off two macho men so they stayed up for 24 hours minusing everything I had written ;Iigot up the next morning and my blue 10 with 1 00 was down to a five and fifty. I contacted MY LOT
AND THEY caught the two men as the men bragged to the admins we got rid of that old hags ten put her down to fifty ha ha so the admins then barred them. they only put my star up to an 8 then over two years it went up to red and was stuck there. then Alex one of the admins told me and Diana we were getting moved up to blue stars and there I have been ever since. Blue is the top ones and you will make the most earnings as the reputations are figured into the my lot earnings algorithm
and so it pays to stay red or blue. as you will m ke more money.so yes my star
matters to me.

Aw, that was a quite awful for those two men.
Good to know they are not here anymore. I bet they are plussing each other.
Anyways, I think everyone here deserves a blue one. But as they say, we cannot please everybody here who may not like the other's post and just hit on the (-) for us. Hope everything here will be as friendly as possible. If they don't like the discussion, they should just go on to the next that they like. Right, ms.Hatley?
The star really matters this time, when everyone is working hard for the holidays.

Hi again, @adnileb! I felt so clueless after reading your post here. For I really do not know what the star is for. Sure, I've noticed how some of us have different colored stars and numbers in them. But I never cared to ask what these mean. So, you are saying that the lower the number, the lower is one's rating? What benefit do we get, if any, for having a high number anyway? Do we earn more or something? can you please clarify this for little, old, clueless me? Thanks in advance, dearie!

I think it somewhat matters to me. Initially, I'm so excited as time progresses, my star also increases. That's what I thought back then, but now, I know that it increases every time someone rates us. But we cannot please everybody here. They may rate us negative or others positive, its their choice, it's how they perceive things. As long as I contribute quality posts and will have a positive impact to discussions, I would go for it, not minding my star that much. Thanks.

It matters really, right? I feel like making quality posts really while it's blue. Well, I am not saying I am not making quality posts when it was red.
But you are right, as long as we contribute quality discussions, nothing to worry about the star.
Thanks for sharing!

I got 9 when I first received my star. I got curious with it, but a little shy to ask about it. so I was searching for a topic relating to this, and luckily I found an answer. It makes me feel proud about it being a new member getting high rating. I never expected mylotters would really find time to rate others. Because honestly, I often forgot to do that... Sorry...
But when I reached 10, I was even more happy. It just makes me feel good about my accomplishments here.

Before, I made a discussion when I first received my star and yes, it was a milestone topic so it was deleted.
I see to it that I don't forget to rate others too. I may not see those who rated me but I still want to rate those that deserves it.
Cheers to being blue!

hi there...
it is so very important for me. as they all said, it is essential for it affects your earnings as well. mine was being toyed from 9 to 4, glad i have it 5 now constantly because before it played to five then to four again and vice versa. well, ms.D mentioned to me that if i am interested to gain more, i will stop discussing about my bad luck pertaining to this matter and as if i was not affected and just ignored it.
still wishing mine to climb to much higher one. because as i experienced, before, my earnings will reached nearly round off to two dollars but now, i cannot even reach to one. i will admit that if i mind it, it is very quiet discouraging. but i did is that, i have fun in interacting here or else, i might go crazy because of indespair (whehehe --- exaggerated)
:) so it is important for me :O)

If I am not mistaken, I know that the star increases on how other members rate you or give you (+).
If I am wrong, then please somebody help me on this??
Anyways, 8 is still good and maybe soon, when you opened your account, it will become red.
What was that national final test all about?
Well, if you don't mind me asking.

hi adnileb and ikasuryani yes our reps and stars go up with pluses and down with
minuses.some new people might not have read t he guidelines in which it reminds us not to minus someone just because we do not agree with their opinion as we all have rights to our own opinions and thats not something to minus for. me i
only hit minus if the post is insulting and mean., then usually I just hit t tthe report tab if its that bad. I do not often dow that either.the idea is if you get mor pluses than minuses you will go up and if you get more minuses then
pluses it will go down,I rarely ever give minuses as I feel we all are doing'the best we can.,so I plus people

Finally! ms. Hatley to the rescue!
Thanks much.
If am not sure on what I might say, I am really needing a veteran's word.
Good thing I was on the right term.
I do plus people too and rarely give a (-). Because I know giving a minus with no reason at all could lower down my reputation. Am I correct? *I need help again* lol

I use to worry about my star statis but now its no biggy.. There are some people that will use the - button when they do not agree with what you are saying which pushes your rep down.. This is not what - is suppose to be used for but some do not read the FAQ or just do not care.. So I try to be nice, say what I want/need to say and hope for the best.. If someone wants to sit there and judge me because of the number of my star well so be it.. I personally look at the persons writings; and willingness to share thier thoughts and ideas...
There was one time when I was at ten and then it dropped after responding to a discussion.. Went down to 4 I believe.. And it took a very long time for me to rasie up again.. I was within the rules of mylot.. Just at the time people didnt like what I had to say at all.. So its just a number with a color by my user name.. I dont pay it any mind or other peoples...

It went down to four? Oh my, that's sad.
But you're really within the guidelines and did your best because it flamed up to red now.
I don't look up to the colors too as long as I can relate to the discussion and have something to say.
I believe we all deserve respect and likewise to those who give minuses. I rarely give a minus. I remember one time, while reading comments from one discussion, I read some insulting words to the starter. So I gave a minus. I think members should really read the FAQs and guidelines if they are fond of doing something fishy.
