Are computers helpful in education?

I agree that it makes people lazy if they start at a young age. Like my neighbors daughter for example. She told me that every student in every class has a laptop computer on their desk to do work. My theory is these kids are going to have poor handwriting and poor grammar because the computer is taking away from the fundamentals that every child should learn.

Just as with everything else, there are good and bad points to having computers in schools. Almost every job you find now requires computer literacy, so students must learn to use them. However, they also need to learn how to do things and research and compute things if they do not have a computer.

Hi Gemma, Yes computers are beneficial to education i think its the best thing that was ever invented by humans and of course as any invention it has its fair share of ups and downs. Remember a knife can be used to help or harm people its how the holder use it you cant actually blame the device for how it is being utilized now can you? You forget to mention on more thing that we can do with a computer more precisely internet, apart from surfing we can also learn new things and websites like coursera are offering course some with a certificate imagine that this is indeed a blessing. As for me i am a student who is at a crossroad now, i am preparing for an entrance exam a tough one at that which demands at least a years worth of hard work now with the help of the internet i access lecture videos of various renowned professors across the globe. I watch lectures from Standford, MIT etc, where i wont even dream of going because of lack of finance. Yes i am getting distracted at times i come here to spend some time, i watch movies to relax my mind all these in the comfort of my own room without paying anything (bills are taken care by my father)

I believe yes because it simplifies and enables students to finish schoolwork faster. It's all about how the students will use the computer. If they are just going to use it for facebook then that's something that will make them unproductive so they need to avoid this at all cost.

Yes i think computers has become helpful in education. With the day to day advancement in technology, We need computer to keep ourselfs updated. Education is aquireing knowledge and therefore can be done quickly through the use of computers in various levels of education.

Its hard for this old fogy to say, we had nothing like this when I was in school, though we did have electric typewriters... It was actually before correction fluids became easily accessible, I don't remember seeing them in college.

Computers had become a bets friend to most students because it had helped them to be more productive and closer to the facts or information they need. Though I also agree that it also caused idsturbance and laziness, if computer is properly used, it more helpful than expected. I work with computers every day. I tecah in teh classroom and my company also provides education through online. We connect and educate people from different parts of the country. Reaching out the needed education is easier if there is a computer nearby. Hopefully we could reach out to a lot more students.

It sure do, as long as we don't abuse this technology, and only focus on using it for our educational purposes like doing research or information related subject; computer is best use for computation needs and when you need to deal with large amount of data in your study, then it should be helpful to every student.

Computers make so many things easier! I can't imagine life without my laptop. I spend a lot of time in front of my computer reading and researching.

I think that the greatest advantage to having easy access to the internet is also the greatest disadvantage to having easy access to the internet. That is the fact that sources for research are right at the tip of our fingers. However, I think that it is a great disadvantage as well because of the fact that there are many sources on the internet that aren't really reliable sources. You see, many people take what they read at face value and with many sources on the internet this is something that is simply not the truth.

Computer will useful on the right people.For education i agree if computer can help some students to find any information for their homework.Sometimes teacher said that student have to find some information on internet.I am sure before they're go for internet browsing they try to find on their books.After got nothing they will find on internet.Lazy or not i think depends on each person character.

Computer is a technology of which bussiness is to make life easy and comfortable. It gives a technical support to learning. But the internet which we captured in a pc is a reservoir of knowledge. We can read or know any book of the world anytime. Internet saves money, diligence and distance. May be we will infuse all our social feelings, society, social interactions in internet. By means cyber video conferecing we will live, chat, date, play, run, sleep whenever we will want.

Yes I think they are helpful. Instead of having to go to a library and look up in 10 different books the information you need now with the internet and computers we can find all the information we need just in one book. There are lots of educational games kids can play online or on computers that help kids learn in new and different ways.

In my opinion,I think computer like other things can have two sides.some people use it to play vedio game,some people use it to study knowledge.The computer is only a tool.

I agree with what you said.. it has been a great help to the students.. But it also made them lazy.. People these days are lazy to go to libraries, and do research.. some even just copy their assignments from the internet. It is just sad that a great invention is used like this.

computers are extremely good for education. I remember in 2005 when i were using GIMP software to modify all my pictures. At that time i didn't know that i can make a lot of money with this software. But today let me tell you i am great in Web/Graphic design and i built a lot of concepts because of this software. If you have a child, advice him to not only play only game. Show him many software and applications so that he can be an expert in the future...

computer is really helpful when it come to education..some people find it easy to ready while looking the screen,but sometime time not all people can accept this method.certainly.this method for the young people today.like the old people the prefer reading page by page in a book. because sometime internet can really distract u to other thing..really need the focus.
