Once had a brown American bulldog and I think it's the best dog ever. As far as i can remember it beat all other dogs in fights, followed instructions, barked at strangers and also great at hunting. Am thinking of buying another canine of the same breed but still open to suggestions. What's your best dog breed and its unique attributes?

Because we all get dogs for different reasons, we all have different things we look for in dogs. When my kids were really little, a Labrador Retriever was the perfect dog. Calm, sweet, happy-go-lucky. Now that they're a little older, our Jack Russell Terrier is a perfect dog for us (because we're a very active family and give it miles and miles of exercise every day.) Most people would say JRTs are far from perfect dogs. Guess it all depends on who you are and what you like!

I think it depends on the owners personality. My favorite breed is a Maltese. I like how beautiful they are and love their personalities. My dog follows me everywhere and is a great companion. Also I live in an apartment so her small size fits my lifestyle very well.

Well, that hangs on what you mean by finest.
Border Collies are the most intelligent and also superb, tireless natural athletes, agile an affectionate. They can do most things reasonably well and they are the only dog that can work sheep so well and out of sight of the owner.
Having more of the natural wolf instinct than other breeds they can be a little sharp if not handled well
German Shepherds are also excellent dogs and due to technique able to bring down a man with more ease than a heavier dog
all the best urban

hi OtisHum30 welcome to mylot,
Actually I have never owned a dog that has a breed. For me I consider toy dogs as the finest dog breeds. those little dogs like my favorite Pug is one of my dream dog breeds. So I will choose Pugs.

I am sure there are many fine ones. I have always liked german shepard. We had one when I was growing up. Her name was cindy. That dog was so smart. I have a small rat terrier now.

We have had several dogs in our lives and it would be hard to choose between them, each was a different breed or mix and each had it special traits. Just because you have had a favorette dog that does not mean that the next one of that same breed will be the same. Enjoy each and every one for their own personalities.
