We re getting the back end of the hurricane, and I;m sure it's nothing like the US. But I was going tow ork, I was on empty I sat at the gas station for 45 minutes, people were running into each other, yelling.
People were buying generators, and supplies. They all saying we are going to get this real big bad storm. I t was real windy earlier, and raining, now nothing, it was hailing when I left work but people simple take things too far.

Sounds like people are wanting to be safe rather than sorry. I live in the middle of the United States, so we are in no danger of bad weather here. I am glad to hear that you did not get a lot of bad weather from the hurricane. I hope that our myLot friends who live close to the coast check in with us and let us know they are doing alright.

I live in Nebraska and we're having beautiful weather here considering it's the end of October. I agree with you, hope all our myLot friends are safe and keep us posted.

They don't want to be left behind when the storm will attack for sure. They are just securing their selves. You might think their crazy but I believe they did the right thing. If I know something bad is coming, I should be preparing for it before it's too late. Better late than never.

Well I hope my friend that things aren't really that bad.. Since yesterday I have praying for 'Sandy' to prove harmless... I've a few close friends at the east coast.. And I'm worried... I wrote to them, but have not got a reply yet. Lets pray that everything will get normal and everyone will be safe... God bless !

The media does really hype things up. I'm in a spot that was supposed to be hard hit and honestly, parts of the state really did get it pretty good. I got a note on my door to pack a bag in case of evacuation. We did have batteries for the flash lights and all. It turned out to not be so bad after all. It did get pretty crazy for a short while but moved out much quicker than anticipated. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. They didn't really know for sure just how bad it would be. I'd rather be prepared for the worst and not need it then visa versa. Then again, I do get your gripe. I don't understand the panic and I'm really always for the most part prepared for something like this. I have extra water, food in the cupboard etc. I had let the batteries run out as I haven't used a flash light in years. And I always carry cash.

I honestly do tend to think that it is better to be safe than to be sorry. However, I will never understand why it is that people just seem to completely freak out when there is some kind of a storm that is coming to the area.
In my area it is typically snow and ice storms that we have this kind of behavior for. I'm not kidding when I say that all they have to do is mention that there is going to be a snowstorm, you are not able to find any bread or milk at the store because people tend to stockpile when there is a threat of a storm.

It's like that in this country as well when there's a bit of bad weather. The media don't help either by over-exaggerating everything.
Glad you're OK though.

If they were really worried they should have been planning ahead early this week and bought up supplies then. People wait to the last minute and that makes for problems like you are describing.

Well, at least they are prepared. it is always better to be prepared than regretting it later. You can never predict how the storm would be.. let's just hope it is not that bad and it will pass quickly.

That is a totally different scenario compared to our country when we know that a big typhoon would hit our country. I think people from the US do take extra precautionary measures in dealing with such calamity unlike the people here in our country. They would not even bother to get out of their house even if they know that there is a huge possibility of having a flood and that it would isolate them from the city. They wait for the storm to come, and when they can no longer get out of their houses, they would go on top of their roof ans wait for their rescue. I mean, why do they need to wait for the water to rise up before they leave their houses? Then they will complain if they are not rescued right away!

Wow I haven't heard it was supposed to reach your area anytime soon, here most people were calm on the weekend and working together getting the supplies they need as far as I know and saw. I only saw one lady trying to get more people at the cash registers one day which was only right cause the lines were meg-long that day. I hope it doesn't get there like we have had here, it has been nerve wracking and we haven't even had the worst of it all. I am so far blessed to have a roof over my head and not have to evacuate, etc. like some did.

I live in Western Mass and we were supposed to get hit today between 2-8pm. I went to the store only because I didn't do much shopping last week and needed stuff. Things seemed fairly normal to me at the store. If the weather got bad there's really not much I can do anyway. It's been raining here and really windy. Last year Hurricane Irene caused much damage due to flooding but not in my neighborhood. This time they said it would be wind damage. I don't know what the streets look like but I expect there's a lot of branches all over the place. High winds do that around here. Connecticut has closed all state roads but the few truck drivers that were out were using them with no interference from police. And all Mass. government offices closed about noon I believe. Local weather says the storm is winding down and should dwindle overnight, but rain - not heavy - will continue tomorrow. So no major problems here that I know of.

It happened when people got to know a big bad thing would take place,i am the guy like that kind,i always got prepared when something such as typhoon, storm or flu will happen.I think it is not bad to prepare enough for supplys and necessaries especially when facing to emergence, though sometimes overreacted i got because of fear.

They're probably preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Some people have a hard time coping with situations beyond their control. Stay safe!
