My electricity went off this afternoon at 5:45 as I was relaxing
in the lounge chair...on the computer..
Well my daughter have been at work since 8;00 AM and is not
leaving until 9:00PM, she will come by my house and pick up
my grandson and I..She was so tired...I felt bad for her...and
she will get there around 5-6 AM this morning....
as we were coming through the village, it
was pitch black...no lights anywhere...It was really strange
to see no lights at all and then suddenly as we neared her
house, there were lights...That wind has be horrendous all
day with the wind gus way up over 45 mph....We didn't get
much rain but lots and lots of wind all day long...It was
actually scary sometimes...
But I will certainly be spending the night here tonight...
I know there are a lot of mylotters in the dark tonight
especially those on the east coast...
ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?????

new day here. It got pretty crazy but not as bad as they predicted and we did not lose power. My daughter who lives a few towns away from me got hit pretty hard and is on her way to my place now. She lives in a real rural area and they lost power and sometimes it takes days to get it back. It'll be fun hanging out with her and the kids. One thing about these storms is they tend to pull people together. Last night my other two daughters were anticipating a power outage and dug out the cards. Although we never lost power, they decided to play cards anyway. We all camped out in the living room with flashlights in anticipation of losing the power. it was kind of fun.

I do not remember the last time we lost power for any significant length of time. I am in the middle of the country. It is good to hear your plans and know that you are safe. We are hoping to hear from other Lotters in your area. Stay warm and keep us posted.

It is god that you are spending time at your daughters, and I hope that you are not too affected by the storms. The most important thing that you could do would be to make sure that you're trying to stay safe and that you don't leave the house when the weather is too bad to cope with. I feel sorry for the people who are in the storms, because I would hate to feel that I didn't have any control over the weather in my country, when it was destroying homes all around me and there was nothing that I could do about it.

Thanks Gemma, regardless of what people say and feel I just don't
believe there is any control of the weather..
I am still at my daughters, so we are all safe...but there have
been lost of devastion in the area, with the up rooting on trees
with the lost of power...the subways and train systems are still
not working..and some of the busses are on a Sunday schedule...
They announced on the local news that it might be between 1-2 weeks
before power is restored...
Thanks God we are still safe and survived with any devasation..
we are blessed!!!!!

hahaha, you made me laugh my friend. No I am not spending the night in the dark. I hope you will be enjoying your time there and may you gain extra health rejuvenation as you under complete darkness. Health provider says, darkness is good for our health.

Hi I am good, even in a serious post, I was able to bring
a smile to someone face...I really like that,,,.
I am no longer in the dark, like I said my daughter picked
us up last night and we are at her house...She's definately
not in the dark..so neither am I now...But its strange becasue
diagionally across from her is a housing complex. totally in
the dark....I definately could use that rejuvenation you spoke
about but it will not be in the dark...LOL..
Thanks for your response...

Nope but let me just say I have a lot of family who were effected by the storm and I am amazing how many of you have computers and WIFI access and yet no power. Don't get me wrong I think its great and its nice to be able to log onto Facebook and see photos how everyone is doing but it just struck me as a little odd.

Sindelle, maybe it is a little strange to you because you misread
my original post...First of all I was on my laptop when the electric
went out and was not able to do anything after my computer has a
battery to operate it but without wifi connection its a mute process..
I said I was at my daughters when I posted and she has electricity
obviously...
however, my grandsons have an IPhone which they could get on FB,
the internet and whatever they wanted...perhaps if you were more
familiar with the 4G systems on that phone it would not be so odd.
I was not familiar with it myself until they explained it to me..
I however was not able to log in on my computer until I reached
my daughters..its 24 hours later and still no power at my home...
Thanks for your response...

I'm glad outside of losing power and spending your night at your daughters you are fairly safe from the storm.
I'm not on the east coast I'm in the midwest. People along the coastline of Lake Michigan are sandbagging homes off Lake Shore Drive tough they say most of the excess water that is supposed to travel thru the chain of Great Lakes will affect areas around Chicago-Inidana portion of the lake.

I am sorry that you lost your power, but am grateful that you were able to stay with your daughter. I bet it was scary. I have an aunt who lives on Long Island and have not heard how she is doing (she is in Patchogue). My aunt on cape Cod, Mass has no power as well. I hope that gifts is okay.
I live in Nevada where it has been 80 degrees all day long.

Thanks randy,,,yes it wasn't so scary beccause I have battery
lights that I have had for many years and this was the very
first time that I have used them,,,they put off ample light and
we just layed on my bed and did puzzles and word find until my
daughter came for us,,,
That 80 degree weather sounds great...It really wasn't to chilly
tonight when I went outside and it was such a lightness in the
sky...It was like the moon was behind the clouds...

thanks eagle, its now been 24 hours and the electricity is still
not on and they are talking about the new few days of restoration,
cleaning the streets for passing and getting up the live wires
scattered across the roads and every where, then the beginning of
restoreing the electric power...So they are saying 1-2 weeks bfore
power is completely restored...where we are in that 1-2 weeks, who
knows...??
Thanks for your concern,,,
