I have a word document full of my favorite lines from the book. everytime I read the book, I find new lines that I like or touch me at that particular moment.
a few of them are
"Accept what are you able to do and what you are not able to do"; "Accept the past as past, without denying it or discarding it"; "Learn to forgive yourself and to forgive others"; "Don't assume it's too late to get involved." pg 18
"The culture we have today does not make people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it." pg 42
"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they are busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you and to devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning." pg 43

you should try it if you got any time to read, it's an enlightening novel of a former professor who spend the few left days in his life at best.

I have read and loved the book. I actually hadn't realized until after I read it that it was made into a movie and a very big movie at that! I was glad I didn't realize it because I read it with my own thoughts instead of a series of thoughts based on what I had already seen in the theater.

This was a great book. A fairly easy read, but it really makes you take a step back and look at life in a different way. We far too often focus on things that are materialistic and of monetary gain... what happened to smelling the flowers, giving a friend a hug... sharing love and life?? Great read!

i haven't finished reading the book yet. but if there's one insight that i couldn't forget, that is morrie's concept of detachment. i used to worry a lot before so when i read about this, i instantly admired morrie for being such a broad-minded & understanding person. in the book he explained that he too, experience anger, loneliness and other negativities. but what he do is that he acknowledges the emotion for some time, and then he let go of that feeling afterwards.
for me his insights are not so original. i believe i have already read some of those in other books. but what makes the book wonderful for me is that the author used the drama of a dying man. that's very touching. and they were able to explain fully their views on certain issues.

I like how he talks about detaching. He says that you feel something, and then you need to detach yourself from the feeling. For example, if you are feeling lonely, you acknowledge it. You say, Ok I am feeling lonely right now. But I am going to detach myself from this feeling and put it in the past. And then you move on. I really like that. I thought that was pretty cool, and I am trying to do it myself.

Movie??? I didn't know that there is a Tuesdays with Morrie movie... But i've read the book and I liked it so much. Although, it's been a long time since I've read it, I know it's a good story. I might not remember the plot itself anymore but I could remember that I was touched after I've read the book.

yep.. one of the tear inducing books ive read so far.. my favorite line is about marriage... if you dont respect the other person, youre gonna have a lot of trouble.. if you dont know to compromise, you're gonna have a lot of trouble.. if you cant talk openly about what goes on between you, youre gonna have a lot of trouble.. and if you dont have a common set of values in life, youre gonna have a lot of trouble.. your values must be alike.. and that value is the belief in the importance of your marriage

Yup. I've read the book in college. It was actually a requirement in one of my subjects. My favorite line was "Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too--even when you're in the dark, even when you're falling."
Btw, i really love it...
