Do you skip breakfast -- regularly or occasionally

I read an interesting article in Times of India just now. It says that having a heavy breakfast is good for health and it presents hunger throughout the day. But many youngsters skip breakfast nowadays. for example my grand son 3- year old only gets up at 7.15 am or so and has to rush to school by 8.15 am - in the process doesn't take break fast properly. May be you experience this with your children and grand children. I do not--repeat do not skip break fast at any rate -- and it helps me a lot in taking classes in colleges (while staying in chennai). Many college students have told me that they skip breakfast - reason - want of time. It is not right to skip break-fast. What is the strategy/method you adopt in regard to breakfast. This is very important because the previous intake of food would have been at least 8/12 hours ago. pl share your views/experience/suggestion.

I never skip , the reason is i like all kinds of south India tiffins. May sound funny but, yes , i like idli ,dosa ,oothapam which is normally prepared in all South Indian houses, as breakfast. I never get bored of eating these at any time. So naturally i wont skip .

mandylee You are from China. You shoulder more responsibilities as an Indian woman. Women have to take care of office and also household. Even if any member of house is not well you have to take a lot of trouble. For all this women need more energy, enthisasm. That you will get from good food. yes. good breakfast. What is the breakfast chinese people take. I am curious to know. We in South India will take idly, vada, dosai, upma, pongal etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idly best wishes

I must confess that despite knowing how important breakfast is I often go to work without bothering to eat anything beforehand. I suppose the main reason for this is simple laziness because I get up in the morning about 1 hour before I go to work. This gives me plenty of time to have a wash, get dressed and have a cup of coffee. In order to make a decent breakfast I would need to get out of bed about30 minutes earlier, so I prefer not to bother.

The best suggestion will be you get up 20 minutes earlier and prepare breakfast with things accumulated the previous night,. enjoy breakfast go and work well. instead you will feel you are doing a sacrifice and are overloaded etc.

Hello ravisivan. I always eat breakfast but sometimes it's a while after I get up. I have a variety of things I have for breakfast. Sometimes I have a couple of slices of bacon with fried potatoes and an egg. Sometimes I have a couple of slices of toast with dither a mashed up avocado or a mashed banana with peanut butter mixed in. I try to have an apple every day too. I have these with a cup of coffee. I have to east something for breakfast because I take a lot of pills and they call for taking food with them or them with food. For those people that don't think they have time for breakfast there are a lot of ways recipes for make and take breakfasts. Also you don't have to stick to the usual so called breakfast foods. You can have anything you want for breakfast.

There are days that i dont eat breakfast at home and its because i feel i dont have enough time or maybe just not feeling good. THe days i dont have time i just dont wake up in time to have breakfast so i do bring a muffin or poptarts or even cookies to work and i do eat at my desk while do paperwork so i do eat and i know i have to eat because when i dont my stomach will start making noise or at least it will start hurting and i will get dizzy so i have to eat and really its important to eat.

I agree completely with you, I have experienced it by myself. I also skipped the break fast many time when I was a student but then I also read and heard it from many healthy people that it is important to eat heavy break fast because you need a lot of energy in the day time. There is a saying which tell me the same thing, it goes like "Break fast like a king, lunch like a land-lord and dinner like a beggar". I see my health improved after I started to never skip the break fast. A number of people are still confused about this fact. They do the reverse thing but if they read this discussion I am sure they will learn a very good thing.

Hi ravisivan, You are right! it is really good to eat our heavy breakfast for we will be ready for the whole day work load and activities. It gives energy to us. Unfortunately, I also skip my breakfast due to lack of time in the morning for I consumed a lot of time in sleeping. I must have self discipline in sleeping hours so that I will take my breakfast?

For me I wake up early and veeeeeery early. As I have to go to school at 8 a.m I wake up at 5 a.m, I pray, read some quran, then I prepare my breakfast (Tea + bread + olive oil ) and I wear my uniform and go to classroom. But at 10 a.m I go to the cafeteria and take a cake and tea. I think it is healthy and keep me focused with my teachers explanations.

Fine. your taking bread and tea initially and then cake and tea is good. that will keep you healthy. Above all let me appreciate you for keeping up the tradition of reading quran regularly. God bless you. yes. it will help you in the long run. incidentally welcome to mylot. You live in which country?

Thanks for your hospitality! I am from Morocco. Please note that I insist in eating OLIVE OIL. It's very important for healthcare.

I also often skip breakfast, because I oversleep and after feeding my cats and stray cats I barely have enough time to get dressed and catch a bus. But when I do manage to eat breakfast, I really feel stronger and less tired later. Good meal can actually be better at keeping you awake than coffee! :) Staying awake is my main priority, since I study a lot.

Normally, here in the Philippines as one of rice-eating countries, we took steamed rice and some viand like fried eggs, hotdogs, fried fish, etc. There are also some citizens that took bread and coffee for their breakfast.

I have this habit from starting, so I guess it is hard to change. Even I think about adopting this habit of taking breakfast , I break it my self after few days.

I honestly do not skip breakfast. Although I do not eat when I wake up. I need to be awake a few hours before I can eat. I mainly skip lunch. And then enjoy a nice dinner. They do say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
