**Do You Change Your Decorating For The Seasons?**

Ok, this is really bugging me so I thought I'd ask to see what other people do.
My bedspread is full of big white flowers, with hot pink flowers and a black background. It's very summery and it just doesn't seem to fit the weather coming in. It's fall right now along with the Frankenstorm, but I know winter is well on its way.
I decided I want to change at least my bedspread/comforter to match the season and maybe get a couple of fun colorful pillows to match.
I don't want to get nothing expensive because I can't spend that kind of money with Christmas coming, but it just doesn't look right to me. I'd like to get something more cozy for the snow that I'm "not" looking forward too, lol!
Do you change this type of decorating with the seasons? Maybe not ALL the seasons but just summer and winter? I have summer curtains up too but they are just going to have to stay for now. Tell me what you do!

that sounds like a good idea, especially since you will probably spend more time in the bedroom in winter if it is cold? I tend to do that at times. I think probably blues or greys might be better for that type of weather. If you want to skip over the fall since you likely don't want to spend money twice for the same thing, I would say blues, purples or greys. I hope you can find something you love and will enjoy through out the winter.

Hi Echo!
I'm actually never cold here in the winter as the landlord pays the heat and it's steam heat. It's really warm and toasty so most of the time is spent in the L.R. where my computer is and the tv.
Blues and greys are beautiful but I get tired of them easily, plus they give the illusion of cold. Fall and Winter to me are cold weather seasons. I'm not very happy with either.
I found a really nice comforter on Ebay that is reversible...burgundy on one side and beige/tan on the other for $32.00 and it's brand new. I'm probably going to get that one because I can do a lot with those colors and they are nice warm colors to work with, plus should do well through the holiday season also.

Yes, I know...I was even thinking that I could flip over the comforter to beige/tan and use that for summer too. There is quite a bit I could do with these colors along with other colors to brighten it up even more.
I did email the dealer on Ebay to make sure she is not in a disaster area because of the shipping. I hope she's safe either way.

Those sound warm and nice actually. I was thinking of winter and rying to think of colours that fit that season but perhaps somethign warmer would be much nicer for you. I think those will look nice and also since it is interchangable then you can change it up when you feel like it.

At the moment I have got quite bright cheerful bedding, I don't tend to change it with the seasons. I like nice bright bedding in the winter when it is cold and dull outside as it brightens me up. My curtains need changing though as they are very thin and I really need to put the thicker ones back up.
I love pretty bedding but becuase my dog and cats sleep on our bed sometimes I only ever get cheap bedding because it is not worth spending lots of money on someting that is going to get ruined by the animals.

If you choose a red comforter and get it on the bed soon, you can use fall color accents until closer to Christmas, then choose some Christmas accents and transition into Valentines.

mychattime, yes, after I responded to your discussion I thought to myself, why not make another discussion on this topic to see what other people do, and here I am, lol! My bedding is really warm but it just seems to flowery for winter. I mean, if they were poinsettia's, haha, that would be different but they're big white flowers with hot pink and black. Just doesn't seem to fit for the winter.
GG, yes, I agree and that was my intentions. Plus, I love red so I'm good to go all the way around, haha.

Strange isn't it what you think of from reading other peoples discussions! No your idea doesn't sound crazy it sounds fab and to be honest I might even steal your idea and do the same especially with my son. I do like cozy bedding this time of year though, the bedding I have at the moment is cozy and not stone cold when you get in, you will have to let me know what you decide :)

I really don't change anything too often. I have different comforters for the bedroom but I only really have one comforter that is comfortable. It's light blue and probably works better in the summer but it's always nice in the winter to see it, too. Just because of the light color and puts me in a good mood.
I know a lot of people go to big extremes and change how things look for each season, I just have other stuff to do and when I change things I always put off changing them back so I just don't do anything.
I guess it can be all summed up for me as; same old same old.

HaHa, your last sentence made me laugh! Trust me, I don't go to extremes, that's for sure. All I want to do is change the comforter to a wintery one and put the summer one away till next year.
If it was a plain color without the flowers I could do more with it just by changing the pillows to different colors, but thats not the case. I don't know, I'm still not sure what I want to do, lol!

I don't normally change stuff like this but the flowers just aren't doing it for me, haha. I think I'm more into a cozy winter color change because I don't like winter so much and I need to make it more acceptable. I would change my furniture if I had more room to do it...darn it. Did you have to bring that up right now?

I'm not changing decoration for each seaso. That would be too much of a fuss for me, and I have a refined taste, which doesn't really change anymore. I have muted, greyish lighter pastelly colors (but not baby colors), and I think they suit every season. The most I do is to burn a seasonal candle every once in a while and on the bigger holidays (not Halloween, because in my country it isn't celebrated)... like get a little wreath and quality figurines for Christmas and a painted egg "tree" (which is popular in my country... basically, these are branches which you hang paingted eggs on) for Easter.

I guess I just like particular, warmer colors for the winter. I always burn candles...all winter long. I also decorate for Christmas and take out my figurines. I know about the painted eggs and they are very pretty. We have those here too, but not everyone does them.

mariaperalta.....My curtains in the living room I'll keep and the bedroom. They are sort of a victorian lace and I really love them. The kitchen curtains are really cute but they're summer and I can't really afford new one's unless I find some fantastic deal somewhere. I have two really long windows in the kitchen.
I guess before I always had a bedspread that I could use all year long and never paid any attention that much. Now, all of a sudden, this one I bought in the spring and had it on all summer but it seems tooooooo summery. I love it, but it just bugs me now, lol! Thanks for your insight!
briggetteblakey936....that's ok, I couldn't do this either a while ago. I think I always had a bedspread that could be used all year. Thanks for responding!

i have knickknacks which i change for each season but i don't change bedding all that much, just pull out the heavier blankets and throws out now that it is getting colder. i also put out more candles because i think candles offer the home a cozy look when its cold outside.

I don't. I have always wanted a snowman quilt to put on my bed in the winter but have never gotten one for myself. I should though...mine comforter is a silky one that is bronze with red roses in it. When I buy another comforter I will not get anything like this again...its much too slippery!

I had a snowman quilt with the bedskirt and shams! I gave it to my little granddaughter for her bed. I had it packed away for a few years because I was just sleeping on the couch all the time. I only used it once at Christmas and never used it again so I gave it to her. And the funny part is, I was looking on Ebay yesterday for snowman comforters, etc., haha!
Your comforter sounds beautiful and I probably would have picked something like that too. You mean it slips off the bed all the time?

When I was living in a Metro we had a small flat and there it mattered what colours I chose for the house and they needed to blend one with the other. But our present set up allows me to be a bit careless about colour combinations as this place is quite sprawling. I have white walls and blinds all around.
Seasons here in India, do not have any marked features that stand out and therefore we do not need to change the house decor to suit seasons. I don't even do anything special when guests arrive. My house is always dressed!

That's good that your house always looks nice, it should. Mine does too but I'd like to change with at least these two seasons. With the holidays coming, I would like something a big brighter.

Hello,
We've talked about that with my wife and we decided to decorate our house and rooms in universal design that would fit all the seasons. I think decision was great because our house design looks just great at any season.
Happy myLotting!

Great idea! I just didn't think about it when I bought my comforter. It's very warm and could be easily used for winter...I just don't like the flowers, lol! I would really like to get a red one for the winter season, and I could use it for the holidays too with fun accessories. So far, I found one on Ebay which is burgundy with a reversible tan underside. I like it a lot and it's very inexpensive. Thanks for responding!

You know growing up we did at my parents house however now that I'm paying the bills I do not. In fact for Christmas all I even have is a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree and a Christmas sweater for my dog lol. If I had the extra money to spend and the extra storage I'd love to change my bed spread and curtains with the season. To be honest I'm tired of looking at the one on my bed now but they're so expensive and there are just other things I need right now I suppose.

You can find some that are pretty inexpensive. I've seen them on Ebay for around $10 but of course, they can go up into the hundreds of dollars. I can't do that either. I'm only looking to spend roughly around $30-35 and that I KNOW I can find on Ebay or with a little luck, around where I live.
Actually, the comforter I have on my bed was only $25.00 at Walmart so I don't think that was too bad for a price. It has big white flowers, with hot pink and black background. Kind of crazy but I loved it for summer. It actually is very, very warm but I just thought I'd like to change the flowers for winter.
I understand where you're coming from Sindelle, but keep your eye open, you just never know what you'll come across. Or even garage sales in the summer..my favorite buying spots!
