As the film's main plot involves the supernatural the classification naturally fall under horror category.
I watched the show sometime ago and felt that it was equally touching especially the relentless love which carried through time and space. I think this is what that is missing among couples today who are too quick with their temple and hasty with their decisions.
Love is eternal but yet, it can be so fragile and temporal in our hands.

I saw this movie a few years back. It's truly horrifying. I watched it alone and I couldn't go to sleep after watching the movie. And like you've said, it's actually quite a romantic movie since it's about the love that the woman/ghost has for her live husband. It's sad too that they had to exorcise her but if she hadn't done any harm to anyone else, people should have just left the couple alone.

yes..this is a famous film when it first came out..around 1999 i think..
was the first Thai film horror movie that is highly acclaimed..later comes out more decent horror film from Thailand such as SHUTTER..which was remade into a hollywood film..
NANG NAK.
It is horror and also a tale of a faithful wife who waits for her husband to come back..and refuse to die..until her spirit is calmed down.. the water village location shot is outstanding.
