I used to have frequent crashes when using Firefox. Usually, the Flash plugin brings the browser crashing down. But lately, Firefox (and Chrome) is stable. It's probably because I have added more memory.
You may want to observe your memory usage. If you find your computer maxing out, that may be the problem and not the browser.

By the way, I'm using Firefox with the latest version of Ubuntu Linux. I used to have frequent crashes with the previous version of Ubuntu, but now I don't remember Firefox or Chrome crashing on me lately. So, it could also be the operating system.
Since I rarely use Windows (although I have a dual-boot setup), I don't really know if Firefox has problems running on Windows-based systems.

Hi bloggeroo, thanks for posting in and sharing your thought on this matter. Good you've mentioned about the memory. I think in my case, the memory is not the problem because I have just upgraded to a much higher one. anyway thanks for mentioning that.

Yes, I am also facing a similar problem in the new version of Firefox 16. I never come across to such a situation in the previous version and with the exclusion of advancement to Firefox 16, I have not made any changes in my computer. For this, I got a solution from the Firefox company website. You can post your crash problem with a forum section or for more information visit:

Hi, thanks a lot for the link, I have not posted any crash report ever since but I think it is good to notify them. I am now using ff17 and it really works well, maybe the OS could be the problem before or some incompatible programs I had before. Thanks friend for posting in.

I don't like to upload the latest versions for my software. But a few weeks ago I was forced to updated my Firefox since it did it automatically. I didn't find the big difference of the new version. But at that time I couldn't use an add-on called "delicious". Now this problem is solved. I haven't encounter my Firefox crash after the update. Perhaps you shall uninstall it and then install it again to solve the unknown errors. You can also write to Firefox and they will reply to you to help you solve the problems.

I have had this problem with new versions and older versions. After investigating the different reasons I was reading, I upgraded all my add on's, to make sure that all of them were up to date with the new version of Firefox. I also went in and made sure my flash was upgraded as well as Macromedia. I still get slow, thing is there are other reasons that happens that can't be helped here. Thing is I haven't had a freeze in along time.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i am also facing the same problem at an uncertain time. I mean when i am working on an important assignment then such crashes would be such an headache for u that u feel like banging your head. He he he. I think since the number of internet users are doubling every year, so this browser might be crashing out every now and then.
What say?

I had a problem like that once and found out that it was an add on that I had that was no longer compatible with the upgraded firefox. I removed the add on and the problem disappeared. I have read that people have had to reinstall an older version just because they did not want to delete the add ons. I think that you can find an older version just by searching for it and then doing a complete uninstall followed up by a reinstall to go back to the browser that worked for you. Good luck as I know how much of a pain it is when your browser wants to give you the boot.
