I've been traveling lately and I need to invest for a digital camera that could best capture the beautiful and natural scenes I will encounter in different places that I will be privileged to visit on the days ahead.
Maybe you can suggest one best digital cam suited for travelers. Thanks a lot.

It depends on what type of camera you want. If you are into outdoors and sports, you may want to purchase on something which has a tougher anti-shock type of camera just like that of Olympus Point-and-shoot cameras, they do have nice HD cameras fit for outdoor use and the good thing is that they are dust-proof. Other than that, if you are more into the Beach/Water activity, you might want to get the new line-up from GE point-and-shoot's they have a cool HD water-proof digital camera.
But if you have that much money, you might as well purchase a Digital-SLR since it's more reliable and it's far cheaper nowadays, from 24k-29 you can buy a prosumer canon eos 1100d or a Nikon and their lenses are far cheaper also, for travel photography you might want to purchase a telephoto lens, it's great to capture far images such on mountains etc. Have fun!

Hello, thanks for the reply. It really is nice having a DSLR-camera since it has more features and high-end resolution compared to digital point-and-shoot. However, if you want to purchase a second-hand Digital-SLR you might consider buying camera filters and lens cleaners since you never know the first user of that camera had made some little scratches or dusts on the camera's lens since it's not brand new. If you purchased such, buy a lens cleaner and a lens filter to protect your camera.

If you want professional-looking photos, then definitely go for a DSLR camera. The only catch is that it is rather bulky, probably hassle-inducing during your travels.
Now, if you want professional-looking photos plus a lighter camera, then buy a compact system camera. The lens is still interchangeable, and the viewfinder is changed into an LCD screen. For a layman, it is like a compact camera with big lenses. I recommend the Olympus Pen E-PM1, or anything by Olympus Pen.

Hi jdalaqui!
It's really one important thing that we should not forget to have if we are traveling. Personally, I have a digital camera which I bought from an appliance store owned by a friend on a second hand and until now I could still use it but I am not completely satisfied with its performance. I am also planning to buy a DSLR camera and I am choosing between Sony and Canon.
I know that with so many places that we maybe able to visit, most likely, we cannot do it for the second time so having a good camera could be of good help to preserve the memories we had on the place.

Precious memories are worth reminiscing specially on photos. Well thanks for mentioning DSLR which more expensive than smaller handheld cam. I think is could be a good buy.

well, I always wanted to buy a good digital camera. most of the times I prefer using the powerful 8M-P camera in my mobile. sleek and easy to use. I did some study, as i'm planning to buy a digital camera for myself too. I would suggest cannon cyber shot
