Looking like your mom?

Watching a comedy video and the gentleman starts a topic about how a man when dating a woman imagines the woman he's dating as the version of her mom. Now if the woman's mom looks alright when she's older he'll be alright knowing that her daughter will look like her mom when she gets older. Do you think men take into the consideration that their wife will look like her mom when she gets older? My husband said he took this into some thought and realized it's true that the older I get I look like my mom and my mom is in good health for her age!

I have a photo of my mother on the wall, taken when she was young, and some people have said, upon seeing it, "Is that you?"

I remember when I was younger and still living at home. We all had went out for a family meal. Some gentleman came up and asked my mom, "Your names must be Kate and Duplikate, because you look so much alike. I about hid underneath the booth from embarasment! Now , I realize that wasn't such a bad compliment after all! Thanks for joining in ont his discussion!

Hi friend, may be some women will look like their mother in their old age, but not all the women's are in this sort. My wife is very much different from my MIL, she is similar to her father. Some women have father's resemblance and they don't look like their mother in their old age

Yes, sometimes women have traits more of their father than their mothers. The last time I was at my mom's one of my sisters was there. We were talking about which side of the family we took after, she thought I took more after dad's side of the family. She thought she looked more like mom's side. Some one outside of the family might disagree. Thanks for joining in this discussion!

My mom has strengths and weaknesses. I want to get her strengths but not her weaknesses. I guess we don't have the same personality. She's obedient to her late husband and to her kids. She always follows other people's decisions. It's hard for her to make her own decision. She's always waiting for somebody to decide for her. I guess she's not that confident enough but she's very kind. She was a very submissive wife before and I'm not. I should fight for my beliefs and rights. I don't want to be like her.

I believe some man would like do that ,at least imagine a little about what his wife will look like as the version of her mother though maybe it is not considered seriously.I dont agree to men should consider things like this too much, and it is too shameful if there is a vile thought or vile language used in such incident..

I agree with you I'm pretty sure a man doesn't take it seriously! I think they say it in a joking manner. I now take it as a compliment, because my mom looks great for her age (79), she's physically active and she keeps her mind active with knitting and reading books. I do not totally agree with you because not all women like their mom when they grow old. Sometines women do have something like their mom, for example, their appearance, the style ther do things and so on. But on the other hand, what one changes relates their around. If all people around her is confidence, faithful, beautiful, she will change slowly. There is an old saying in china,"he that handles pitch, shall foul hie finger" which means that.

You're right not all women look like their mom. Some women can take traits/characteristics of both of their parents. I started this discussion to see if people think that men will some times wonder if their wife/partner will look like their mom,not that it's necessarily true or not. I do not think it ever occurred to either of my husbands. There are some ways that I do resemble my mom, and she always looked young for her age. I can also see my dad's mom and sisters when I look in the mirror. Also my older sister. I like some of those resemblances, some not so much.

I'm not sure that every man thinks about it. I know they seem to after someone mentions it to them! Oddly enough, I look more like my dad, my daughter and grand daughter both look a lot like me! It's my sister that resembles my mom a lot! I know I always watched how men treat their mothers! (that's another topic altogether, though!)

oh that is so hurtful. When he mention look like mom we dont see it as a mom but our mind will first see the age and sorry i cannot go on with the explaination.Get even and you must otherwise it will linger in your mind and sugar coat your words but sharp. My faith says that a man MUST NOT SAY THAT HIS WIFE LOOK LIKE HIS MOM OR HER MOM. if he does that he must fast 3 days, yes it is that serious.

I take it as a compliment, because my mom looks great and she's almost 80! She's still very active and her mind is very sharp. So I hope I would be/look like her when I get her age! Thanks for joining in on this discussion!

I guess that goes with the saying, what the tree is that goes for the fruit will be. When we grow we somehow really look like our parents. Maybe when I get old I will look like my dad, same goes with my girlfriend. She might look like her mom. But more hotter.

True, but I as a women never experienced seeing what my husband would look like when he got older, because my husband's dad had already past away before we began seeing each other. But our children both look like their dad! So, I'm guessing my husband will look like his dad! Thanks for joining in this discussion!

I think they do actually, in a way even if they dont admit it. I'll be single for the rest of my life then. My Mother doesnt take care of herself, nor her health, missing half her teeth, and look 20 years older than she actually is. I have never brought any of my ex's home to meet her nor do I plan on it.

I could see them looking at their partners mother out of curiosity and thinking that maybe. I wouldn't imagine though that would be a requirement to evaluate how well the mother looks before deciding to marry her daughter. Then again I don't understand why men think and do a lot of things lol. Good for you that you take after your beautiful and healthy mother.

Oh, I agree with you I think they just consider this as a factor not a requirement when they compare their wife to their mom! But I've heard said that a woman is attracted to a man that has qualities of their father. Maybe it's all just coincidence! Thanks for joining in on this discussion![

Yes, my brother and my partner tells me this too. I think there's some truth bout it, but of course, it depends on the lifestyle of the mom too. If there are habits that both don't share, then it's impossible to truly say that when the woman gets older, she'd look like her mom. But if they're really close and tight. Then perhaps she will look like her mom when she gets older. For me, there's a little impossibility because my mom is shorter than me, and I look like my dad. Perhaps I'd look like my dad when I'm older! Lol! hahahaha.. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

It never really occurred to my husband my sisters hubby or my brother when we all dated. Now my sister does look quite a bit like my mom but i don't think it matters. Not all women will look exactly like their mother when they get older and some won't look like their mom at all. Some might look like dad. Also should it really matter what you look like when your older. If the guy really loves you hell be with you and stay with you no matter what. Also is the guy gonna be beauty when hes older? I don't even resemble my mom that much anyway tho i wish i did because she is beautiful, but i don't think it matters what the woman will look like yrs from now so the guy shouldn't worry about it. more important things in a relationship to think about in the future than what the woman would look like.

Some men do that, not all. I wore more make-up than her as a younger person, she has never worn much at all. I still like to look nice at times whereas she doesn't take pride in her appearance on much of any level. She acts more like a man than I do and so forth. But as far as some of the facial features I'm sure I take after both my parents if I don't have make-up on. She will even buy men's clothes sometimes and look like a dude if she has to with no problem. When very much younger she might have worn lipstick on special occasions or shorts but that's all. I'm more feminine than her in many ways but do prefer to wear jeans/pants most of the time I guess.

Come to think of it, my mom never wore much make up if any other than lipstick either. I wear makeup. She just likes the natural look as she looks well by doing so. Occasionally ,she'll wear jewelry if it's for a special occasions. Thanks for joining in on this discussion!

Many people say that girls look like fathers and boys look like mothers. But I don't know whether it is true.
