November Goals!

There's only 8 weeks left until the end of the year - how is everyone coping with their New Year's Resolutions?
Oh, you forgot about them? No worries, most people do! Now, with only a short time left this year, it's a great opportunity to think about what you could achieve before the end of 2012!
Maybe there are some little-ish things you've been putting off:
- updating your bank details
- cleaning out your email inbox
- tidying that weird pile of junk that's accumulated next to the bed
- phoning that friend you meant to call weeks ago
- Going to the dentist
Maybe you've got a few things you really need to do, or things you want to do but haven't found time for
- reading a particular book
- cleaning out the garage
- Outfit planning so you can finally wear things hidden in your wardrobe
- binning old, out of date make-up
Whatever it is, commit to it now! I always find by announcing my goals somewhere I'm much more likely to stick to them - I don't want to come back and admit I didn't get anything done!
Aim high and select more goals than you can actually do, that way at least you'll make some good progress. Or start small, and add more goals if you finish them, whatever works for you.
My goals for November (broken down into categories!):
Uni assignments
1. Climate change essay (by November 16th)
2. Practical write up (by tomorrow!)
3. Taxonomy poster (by November 12th)
4. Frog presentation (By November 12th)
Noticing how the first half of November kinda sucks?!
Online
1. To reach 400 posts on Mylot (I kept setting it at 500 and getting disheartened, so this is one goal I'm scaling back!)
2. To post on my blog at least 15 times
3. To reach 6 million neopoints (I need something to cheer me up after all that work!)
Media & Life in General
1. To catch up on Glee
2. To finish at least 4 books (hopefully including re-reading the Hobbit in time for the film)
3. To come up with 5 Christmas present ideas each for my mum, dad, sister and boyfriend
4. To go on a great date for our anniversary at the end of the month
5. To pick my favourite 5 masters courses so far, and figure out how and when to apply for them
Wow, might be taking on a little much.....nah! Anything I can tick off that list will make me happy. What are you hoping to achieve this month? I love hearing everyone's goals!
Or maybe you think goal setting is a waste of time and would rather take life as it comes? Tell me either way!

I am not one to make New Years resolutions. If I want to accomplish a goal why not start now? To me its not particularly fun to wait til the new year so I figure I may as well get a head start.
New Years resolutions seem almost silly to me. People look at their calandar and feel the need to make one. Then they usually make a promise to themself that cannot keep. The most common New Years resolution is probably the good old I'm going to get myself in shape. It never fails every year at the beginning of the new year the gyms are packed then slowly for down as everyone gets lazy lol.

No problem
Yeah, I'm the same, I always forget if I make big long-term goals like New Year's Resolutions. Plus, if I do forget, I don't want to feel like I can't make new ones in July or whatever, just because it isn't new year!
So I try to just think of overall long term things (like getting a good grade at the end of uni, or building my blog) and then break those down into small chunks when I'm setting my to do lists.
I think to-do lists are a great practice, I'd be lost without mine for sure!

I'm sorry I just realize I misread part of your post. We're both in agreement that its silly to wait til the New Year. I just think its also silly people make an annual habit of making promises they cannot keep. It's good to make a to do list. I do it all the time and try to work on m lingering projects in my spare time.

For me, it's important to reach any goals that I have made. Sometimes the goals I make and don't achieve are me expecting too much of myself and sometimes I have to lower my own expectations.
If I don't tell someone or write my goals down, I tend to put them off a lot more often. It's easy to let something go if I don't make a list or have someone asking me if I hit my goal(s) yet.
A lot of times, letting go of certain goals I set for myself and just letting things go, causes me to lean towards being lazy and then I really don't accomplish anything of great importance.

Well, with all of your lists, mine is just so simple: To have payout here in mylot before the end of November in order for me to buy present for myself this coming Christmas and that would be to buy a Stereo Gaming Headset for myself...I am sure that the sounds of it will truly blow my ears!

Whatever works for you - sometimes my goals are just to stay on top of uni work without giving up a social life!
Reaching payout on here is a pretty common goal - how much is your headset? I'm pretty sure I'm nowhere near that level of payout...
I hope you get it, and that your headset is everything you want it to be!

Wow that is busy!
November is crazily busy for me with university deadlines, but I'm hoping that I can get a lot done in December.
I always love the idea of making things for Christmas...and then I always forget! I do obviously need to do christmas shopping and wrapping (once I've picked some gifts first!) and I'm also hoping to make payout by the end of the month on here.
Good luck!

Hello,
Yes, I've been thinking of my goals next year, Those would be:
To achieve myLot minimum payout and continue myLotting.
To find a part time on-line job( been searching for years but i can't find any)
To celebrate our wedding anniversary(two weeks after new years) memorably.
To Find perfect Christmas presents for my friends, family.
And of course, to continue enjoying my life.
Happy myLotting!

Those are some good ideas, but I did actually ask about goals for the end of this year, and some of yours are definitely next year
Good luck with everything - especially the wedding anniversary. I always find significant events really exciting but difficult to plan for. How long will you have been married?
