Liverpool v Newcastle

The stats are against Newcastle when playing at Anfield.
Check these out:
In their last 17 league visits they have conceded 45 goals and scored just 14!
From these 17 games they have taken just TWO points!
Even when the Toon were flying last year they still lost 3-1 at Anfield!
However, Liverpool have not been impressing much of late so it makes this game a very difficult one to call.
Do you believe in past statistics and 'bogey' teams, or do you go with a hunch? What is your prediction?
I would hesitantly go for a 1-1 draw. What do you think?

I would think that Liverpool would be the favorites to win this match, though it will be a tough match. I think Suarez's good form in the past few matches is what gives Liverpool the edge. But Newcastle have got their no. 1 goalkeeper in Krul back and already he has made two good saves in the match. Up front they still have that deadly pairing of Ba and Cisse who can score goals from any situation and hence it could turn out to be a very close match. I still pick Liverpool to win this match.

Talk about Liverpool vs Newcastle and the two thrill 4-3 matches comes to mind. It is hard to see that happening again, given the chronic problem Liverpool have up front. Beside, Anfield is no longer the fortress that many opponents will be defeated even before a ball was kicked. In any case, if the two teams decide to serve up another of the 4-3 games, as a neutral, I will be more that gleeful.

I predict that Liverpool will win. Newcastle is a strong team but they are not in their best time! I don't know how many injured players are there in the Newcastle squad. But they had many core players injured before this season. For Liverpool, Suarez is finding his feeling of goal again. That's a key factor in this match.
