can someone explain me what's with second life and how can you earn real money there. thanks in advance

I've heard about that before...it's something about the in-game currency that you can sell to other users. I looked into it before, but it seemed to be a waste of time. I read it in their FAQ's on their website.

There are many many ways to earn $L on SL. The hardest (in my opinion) is making things or having a business/store. I fish, coin hunt, and cone hop. Sometimes I go to coin chucker places.

It's been around 3 years, when I had first visited the site. Made an account and later left the site.
When I had used the site, it is a social networking site where one can build virtual worlds and as their own virtual currency. You can convert virtual currency to real currency or vise versa.
I played it only for 2 days and haven't earned a single cent. Maybe you need to invest in to the site to make money out of it and I am sure it isn't easy to make money from it. It's more or less equal to investment site, since you can earn little to no money when you don't invest.
