Fun things to do in a long car ride

Some time this month, the family would be headed to a long drive to visit relatives. Their place is around 6-8 hours away depending on the traffic. As much as I love reading, I easily get carsick when I open a book or play games on my phone. Usually, I'd sleep on long rides, but sometimes, I don't feel like sleeping at all. Sometimes, if I'm bored, I'd look at a car plate and think of an acronym for it. Or if I'm in a nerdy mood, I check the numbers in a car plate and think of 3 squared numbers that would add up to it. Let's say 5^2 + 7^2 + 10^2 = 25+49+100=174. So else can you suggest I do? It can be anything as long as I can be occupied :D

My friends usually just turn the music up and sing along with the songs being played. Cliche, but requires the least effort while being fun. Sometimes we do not even turn on the radio but just sing of any song we can took off, better if it is a song usually sung in karaokes and music bars.
it is more fun if we cannot remember the lyrics. One time, my friends went on a road trip. I was left at home because I had to attend a wedding of another friend of mine from another group of friends. I received a call during the reception from my friends asking me to sing the first line of Celine Dion's I love you, Goodbye because they cannot remember. So there I was, in a wedding reception, singing I love you, Goodbye quietly to my phone.

LOL, that's a funny story. But why did they choose I love you, goodbye? Is it the couple's song? And I hope you got the lyrics correctly, I assume? :)
Singing with friends is a lot of fun especially if you crank up the music and they'll all be in this crazy singing mode. For a less noisy alternative, we sing song phrases then use the last word of the phrase as a start of another song. It's easy if you know a lot of songs.

We weren't allowed to switch to another language. If the next person couldn't think of anything to follow, another person could "steal" the chance to think of a new song. If no one could think of one, we would ask the last person to continue singing the previous song until he finds another word. I suddenly feel nostalgic about this game :D

I guess it was a popular song to sing in our place at that time. We still laugh when we remember this story. I still want to strangle them one by one for reminding me that I was left behind when they made the road trip. But then again, I cannot miss my other friend's wedding so all is well. :)
We play that song to. Funny how everyone gets creative. If we cannot find a song that begins in the exact word the previous song ended, we just find a word that have the last word of the previous song as its first syllables (ex. if a song ends in "met" or "me," we start with "meteor," "meter" etc). This way, we were also able to switch from English songs to songs sung in our local language, and vice versa. Fun times!

One of my favorite games to play during a long car ride is to count things I see. I remember going to the beach with my brothers and we were counting the guys that had comb overs. Also many phones now have apps that allow you to watch movies. Would you be able to watch TV on your phone? Also if you have a lap top you could always download movies for the trip.

Thank you for sharing. We also used to do that when we were younger, but it was more on cars. Like count the number of black cars or something.
Unfortunately, I also get a bit dizzy from watching movies on a small screen while in a moving vehicle. All I can do is listen to the music or news on the radio.
