A lot of people say it's a race between Captain Kirk & Captain Picard.
While I would say that--between those two--it's Kirk (his character is more like Batman, having been played by more than one person now). But my favorite is either Captain Pike (the captain in STAR TREK's pilot-episode, who has now been played by more-than-one-person as well), or Captain Archer (captain of the Enterprise-A) played by Scott Bakula.
I didn't really watch "ENTERPRISE" enough to get to know Archer as well as I know Kirk or Picard (or Pike), but Scott Bakula is Awesome! In fact, I was reminded of 'him in the quantum-leap accelerator at the beginning of every QUANTUM LEAP' when I saw sub-Captain Hunter joining with V`ger in STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE.
... Hey! Maybe QUANTUM LEAPing is the very same thing!... or not ...
Anyway, whose your favorite STAR TREK captain?

I'm a purist. There is only Kirk, Bones, Scotty and Spock for me. I did try to see The Next Generation but I couldn't get into it plus, I never got over the shock to see a Klingon on the Enterprise. So I just watch the classic t.v. shows and the movies well, save 1 and 5 and 6, lol!

And when was it that Klingons developed all the forehead-makeup. Coz I remember an old episode almost-hinging on the fact that you couldn't tell a Klingon from a Vulcan (or was that just a Romulan, whom it's STILL hard to tell-apart from a Vulcan).

Data. WHAT? you read that right. Very briefly in the comic books that lead up the re-boot movie (written by the same guys who wrote the screen play and apparently part of the official canon.) Data has come back to life as sloppily foreshadowed at the end of Nemesis. So anyways, in this comic he's the captain of the Enterprise. It has a About time feel to it.

Maybe he came back to life sorta the same way The Doctor (DOCTOR WHO) does his regeneration---a Quantum Leap ("Oh boy.")

My favorite is Kirk, because he's the first. Now, of all the captains, of all the shows, Janeway is my favorite. Because, she's the first female. Sisko is my second favorite, as he seemed to have the most interesting drama.

Hello my friend.
So far I have only seen the series and movies up to 1993 (i am on season 3 of next generation). Apart from this I have seen Archer's Enterprise and the 2009 Star Trek Movie.
I must say that Picard was really serious (too serious for me), Kirk was very charismatic but was putting himself in danger a little to often so I must go for Captain Archer as my all time favorite as he faced the toughest choices considering he was the first Human Captain to go far into space with an exploration ship (at least at first) and handled himself admirably considering everything he faced out there.
He was the one responsible for the formation of the Federation of Planets not to mention preventing total annihilation from the Xindi and further more building for a future alliance with them.

I am a fan of Star Trek and this is my favorite science fiction movie.
I considered Captain Jean-Luc Picard of The Next Generation as my favorite Enterprise Captain. I also like the female Voyager Captain, Captain Kathryn Janeway.
Long Live and Prosper!
