Is this right?Child suffered from school projects so parents need Computer

Hi, For people with lots of money to spare, a computer is a necessity but for those who can barely make ends meet, it is a luxury. I lament on the fact that schools nowadays require their students to go online or submit projects in computer printout form. We use to do school works by hand, pen and paper, then typewriter in college. My question reflect yours: How can a family who are barely on the poverty threshold provide good educational home training by having a "low-cost" computer? Children whose parents can't afford the luxury should not suffer from the lack thereof. Sadly, this is not the case. Three hundred dollars for them can go a long way, when there is no paycheck to rely on. It is right? No, it its just not fair.

Hi fantabulous! Not only that, the teachers would require my daughter to sign up on a certain site because she will be posting the assignments there. What the...? I don't argue anymore anyway, it's good thing that we have our own computer and an internet connection.

Hi fanta! You are right that teachers in a school should think twice before asking students to complete their projects using computer. Everyone can not afford it immediately and everyone is not aware about computer's software and hardware. In case parents purchase a computer for their wards but do not know how to operate, it will get difficult to manage.

Fanta, that's how my parents got a computer at home for everyone of us to use. Nowadays, almost every school project need a computer to complete it. Without a computer, it is hard to complete the school project. I remembered when my parents home don't have any computer, we will need to spend lots of time in the net cafe. It is really boring to spend time in net cafe. i still prefer to spend my time at home doing my school project. I am happy and thankful to my parents willing to buy us a computer at home at that time. As for my home, i had a computer since from the day i am married. Because both me and hubby like to surf the net a lot. Even now my son know to surf the kid friendly site.

With the advances that have been made in technology over the last several years and also with the higher standards that have been established for students in today's society, I do think that it is important for all families to have a computer in their homes for their children to use as educational tools. Both of my children have always been far ahead of their classmates because of the fact that they have both been proficient with using the computer since they were three to four years old.

I haven't encountered such a thing, the kids I know of my relatives have good knowledge of using a computer and better users than there parents ...

Ohhh God you are taking words because today my husband's cousin brother's daughter has came in our home and say me please help me and search this topic. I was making meals and my danger and sweet hubby was not ready to help her. So i told her came at evening time. My sweet heart tell me how suffer the child and parents why school teachers give the lots of project for small child.

Before the parents allowed the child to use a computer, make sure that she is familiar in operating and taking good care of it. In internet cafes, computer maintenance is done by the owners so that users do is use it. If the cannot use the computer and maintain it (in both hardware and software sense) then I suggest she stick to the cafe. If she doesn't know malware from virus and security, stick to the cafe. Also, if she cannot troubleshoot, she will have their responsibility of fixing or paying for its fix. I agree tat some parents who aren't keen on computer might get annoyed. Parents didn't feel it was necessary for them to sue a computer in their generation. But, they should also learn even if it is the only vehicle for their child understand. It's asking for disaster if you have a computer and both parent and child don't know how to use it. I suggest you teach the child first how to own and maintain a computer before owning one.If you buy without knowing how to maintain it, you're gonna pay for something that will be frustrated with.

Now the days has changed a lot. The students are well familiar with all the electronic gadgets like mobile phones, computers and all others. The kids have a good environment or a way to learn them. So due to this the students are much familiar with it and they are able to gain more knowledge about how to use it according to their needs.

I have not encounter such things, but if my kid ask me this I think I should know why, if all of his/her classmates have a computer, I would buy her one, and if not all of his/her classmates have a computer, I would teach him/her to find other ways slove the questions.

Now the cost of computer has came down a lot. If you go for second hand you can fetch an windows xp with Intel Pentium 4 processor for Rs.2000 and that don't cost much if you are just a leaner and not a professional. But after buying some repair and upgrades may cost you but that don't disappoint some if their system is running smoothly. I can find some examples from my area who brought old PC just for their children so that they can learn it. I think its a good investment for Rs. 2000 or less. If you are thinking of any new kind then why don't you think of akash tablet. It cost less too.

Hello Nowadays computer is really important to aid research and project at school. So having a computer or laptop at home help a lot. Parental guidance really required.

I find this very strange. If both child and parents are unable to use a computer, then it will be a waste of time buying a computer. The child suffers from not completing projects, but is unable to use the computers at the internet cafe as well. The solution to this is simple, the child needs to be taught the proper use of a computer. If the parents are unable to do the teaching, they should find a teacher for the child.

Kids nowadays needs computer, yes. My son is also seven years old and he has a lot of homework to do in the computer. In English, he has reading and listening on the computer as well as French. Well, sometimes it is really hard to teach the child if the parents do not know what to do especially on the computer. Like my experienced on the first week of classes where he had a homework in French and my husband and I didn't know how to pronounced such words, it is really difficult. I went to the computer and open their homework so I can listen and teach my son at the same time but sad to say that I cannot open such file. Well, I had opened that file after another week of configuring it out or else we have to buy a software compatible to the software the teacher is sending.
