New battery for laptop?

Hi! About how often does a laptop need a new battery? I've noticed that my laptop (about 3 years old) is going through the battery in about 1/2 an hour and I need something that can last longer. I have noticed that Amazon has them for about $18-$25; is that about what I ought to expect? Thanks!

Hi Cricket! I can say your laptop is one of the best. Can you share what brand is it? I have mine which is 1 1/2 years and the battery won't last anymore for half an hour. I am planning to change the battery and also found almost the same price. But I was not able to canvass on the stores near our place yet.

Hi and thanks for getting back to me so fast! The laptop is a Toshiba and like yours, it won't last more than a 1/2 hour. GRRRR! You may have an answer to another question; I print a lot of coupons and for some reason, the printer (brother) keeps saying that it's offline. I do have the laptop recognizing it but we'can't get it to switch to online. Any ideas? Thanks!

The battery already lasted for 3 years and it is already worth to rest! Mine only lasted for nearly 2 years and yes, you can purchase them online although I highly recommend that you go to a physical store and purchase one, just so you can try it. Christmas is fast approaching, Im sure there will be lots of sale in Walmart and in Radio Shack as well.

My husband told me it's not good to leave your battery in your laptop all the time. He said it's okay to put it in your laptop to charge it every once in a while or to use it when you really need to, but when you leave the battery in there all the time it does drain the power until it starts to give you less & less battery life.

Yes, that'sabout right. Amazon have a very good price and very reliable. You probably can find somewhere cheaper in the internet, but will not be much of different than Amazon. I will go with Amazon. I heard that to get your laptop battery longer life, we have to use it. Don't just plug into the outlet. We have to keep use, then charge then use it again, like that.
