Is this necessary to wash the towel everyday?

Hello my friend! It depends on which towel you are talking about. My hand towel that is by the bathroom sink I do not wash everyday. I do not share it with anyone else and it remains mostly clean since I only use it for my face and hands which have just been washed anyway! But my bath towel I just cannot reuse! I only use it one time and then wash it. I also wash my kitchen towels everyday. At night on my way to bed I put the kitchen towel and dish cloths in the washing machine so I can get a new one in the morning!

surekha: yes. I remember to have told you. While staying in chennai we use ordinary cotton towel -- each one has a separate towel and our clothes are washed every day in the washing machine. along with that these towels are also washed. while staying in usa/canada - we use turki towel -- one for each person in a separate bath room -- here we have three bath rooms-- then the towel is changed once in a week. in my view in India we should wash the towel every day because it is a hot place and accumulation of water in it will cause smell -- we have facilities of washing and why should we not do it. This is being done for hundreds of years in south indian families.

I just read your other discussion as well...when it comes to towels I have one for bath one for face and one for hands and no I don't wash them every day I only wash them once a week! I live alone so I do my washing twice a week.

I have a towel for hands that I wash every two or three days when I`m alone and more often if I have visitors. My bath towel is something that I don`t share, so I wash it from 5 to 7 days, depending on the weather. If it`s raining, I cannot sun dry it after using it and I have to wash it sooner. I use the same towel for face and body.

Hello, it is depends on use of towel. Towel which we are using to dry body after bath, I am agree with you weekly or in 3 or 4 days is sufficient. But towel which we used to clean face it is better to wash it everyday. Generally towel which we used for this purpose is small is size so no problem in washing it every day.

Hi surekharathi, normally we wash once a week. Towels need not wash daily unless a person has allergies and afraid of germs and bacteria which affects ones health. However, keeping yourself hygiene is a good thing anyway. But not necessary to such an extent. Hehe.. =)

I wash all the towels once a week unless the towel in question gets really dirty or wet and needs an extra wash. We have towels for our bodies and towels for our faces, works well in our house

Each of my family members has their own personal bath towel so I don't wash their towels every day. I think if you do that, that would really wear out the towel and like you say also a waste of water and detergent and not to mention electricity.

No. I don't think we need to wash the towel everyday. I don't know others. Maybe some do it and whatever reason they have is I don't know. Maybe they want their towel to clean everyday. Well, the towel is still clean. I mean if it is not so dirty, we just let it dry because washing it everyday is a waste for a soap.

Hi SR Nothing is necessary (except few).. I mean it is up to us that we want to do it or not. Personally I am having separate towel, and I don't used to wash it everyday. It don't get that much dirty in only one day.. I used to wash it up every 4 to 5 days. But yes different people having different thinking, but for me I don't used to wash it every day.

my mother washes the towels once a week, i think its okay .Each an every member have one towel in our house. separate for guests . Oh i didn't see the other discussion.

Honestly, I don't wash my towel everyday. I just hang it to dry after I take a bath. I think it is not really necessary to wash it everyday, but don't have a habit that you won't wash it forever. I still feel clean because it's just me who just use it. :) But I have an exclusive towel for my face only. That is what I have to wash everyday.

I do washing of my towel once a week. However I hang my towel to dry after each use to allow the towel to dry completely before I use it again. I designate a specific towel to use while washing my face though (I use different towel for face and body). I don't think it's necessary to wash it everyday, I use towel just for myself and different ones for each family member anyway. As long as you ensure that the area where you hang your towel is dry and free from humidity, it's alright I think.

Hello surek. For my self I use the same two towels for a week. I am clean after taking a bath or shower and so is my hair. So the towels don't get dirty or smelly because I always hang them up to dry. I don't have room for more than that. I do get a clean wash cloth for my face every day.and wash my body scrubby every two days. I live with my daughter and her three daughters and husband. The three girls use a new towel almost every day. They then have a large load of laundry to do. It's hard to find room for them all in the cupboard.

If the towel or wash cloth is not being used by anyone else. I see no reason not to use it several times. As you are just drying a clean body off any ways. However I would not use a towel or wash cloth that someone else is using. Because you can catch things like scabies. By sharing a towel with someone else.

That is a lot of wasted water, I would ask the question, "Are they clean or dirty when they get out of the shower?" That should answer the question of why its wasteful to wash a clean towel everyday. I usually do a load of five or six towels one day a week because my family is clean when they get out of the shower.

I used to wash the towels after each use. I don't do that anymore. I use it twice before I wash it and it really does save on laundry. I still use a different towel for my face though, but have always washed them once a week or so.

I have only washed my towel every 2 or 3 months, once the towel got sticky. Some time i just discard the towel and get a new one.

sureka, always i wash my towel every day. I am not interested in using the same towel again without washing it, even though i am the only person who is using it. We have washing machine and every day we wash our towels using it. For me it is necessary to wash our towels after every usage
