Do you still use tangible planners rather than online ones?

Do you guys ever use planners or organizers to help you arrange your life and schedule? Planners used to be such simple things: a notebook to keep track of dates, appointments and schedules; a personal diary; a physical manifestation of our activities. Ever since we were required to keep one as an elementary school student, the habit has stuck with me until college. But now with the rise of the internet and electronic gadgets, is it still useful to keep these paper-made ones? What do you think?

but i also have a wall calendar with big boxes where i write other stuff (like for the house). i also have other notes taped on my mirror where details are added. i guess i can't get away from pen and paper and seeing one month at a glance.

I do have one of that too. But instead of writing, I write on thin colorful post-its and stick them on the calendar. So when I have to move a deadline or meeting, I just move the post-it instead of re-writing. i find moving the post-its fun. But it is dangerous too because they may be removed accidentally so I am careful using them.

colored post-its is a good idea. even if you don't read it, you know what it is based on the color. i used colored pentel pens.

I use neither, I create my own planners with Microsoft Excel. This is far more practical for me because I am able to fully personalise spreadsheets to suit my specific requirements. It also has the added advantage that I can transfer them to my mobile phone and have access to them anytime or anywhere without the need of internet access.

I use neither online or physical planners, instead I tend to settle somewhere in between. I used Microsoft Excel to create an expenses planner in order to keep track of bills and ensure that I do not overlook any. I also tend to add important dates to the calendar in my mobile phone, for which I can also set an alarm if required.
The tangible notebooks and charts etcetera are not really as practical as an electronic equivalent, but I would not store such data online due to the possibility of being unable to access it when I wanted to.

I do use a diary which I keep on my desk but it's one I can write in with pencil, dates etc, it has the full week in view so I know what I am doing from Monday to Sunday. I have never or will intend to use online ones, mainly because if I lose the data, I am stuck, it's much safer and more private not to use an online organizer. I have come unstuck once before I was typing out a document I needed for work and the computer froze on me, and I had to redo the whole document, same with Mylot responses I always copy and paste so if anything does go wrong I can quickly recopy it, but if I have all my dates on the scheduler and it freezers or I cannot access the planner then that is absolutely no use to me whatsoever!

good day to you pheenkeesh,
although there are electronic gadgets, i still prefer to use small notebooks to take down notes and important dates. though they are both useful, small notebooks /notepad is still preferred.

I always buy an agenda every January, but after some time I go back to small papers written in the moment and placed everywhere ay home. I wish I could be more tidy in that respect, but I haven`t been able to do it. As for internet, the only thing I have on internet is a grocery list to check what I need.

I do use the planner on my cell phone to remind me of appointments and things, although I really should not as it is too easy to steal. Then again, a paper planner is just as easy to steal, although most people nowadays would not bother to steal something so "low tech", which is actually a good thing and one of the reasons that I prefer them. It is difficult these days to find a proper planner, though, because many people have switched to the electronic ones. I usually ask for one for Christmas, and it has been increasingly difficult for my family to find one ... I didn't even get one last year as there weren't any decent ones.

Hi pheenkeesh.
Since the advent of smartphone, i have been trying to switch to iphone calendars and various other apps to help me plan my day.
However, it seems that i would very much prefer to stick to the physical notebook. I feel like it's much more easier and that i feel a sense of responsibility when writing appointment down rather than typing it on a phone or on the computer.
You are right, i have been using the pen and pencil method since my first day in school and i'm really not very used to doing my planning and organizing stuffs online.
Don't worry, i think it is still very useful to keep paper-made one! and cheers to like-minded people who still prefer sticking to pen and pencil!

I like my paper one for when I am on the go. I have a very minimal data plan, and am charged two arms and a leg if I go over, so I only use my data for directions/gps. I think better when I write instead of just typing. It helps me to remember putting it several different places. We have an online family one, and a paper one that hangs on the fridge. It keeps everyone where they need to be and when.

I still use the tangible planner/organizer. It's more convenient for me than always going online. Besides, I love writing and doodling so I still use the paper-made planners. Just the other day, I already bought a 2013 planner. And I'm so excited to put schedules and appointments on it.

well, i still use my book planners because i used it everyday...for that's the first thing i can bring when i too busy. when my boss tell me something i always write it on my planner and post it on my laptop's side....I think paper made ones are still useful in my side especially my boss in not computer conscious.

Hi there! for me yes, its still useful to use the paper type organizers. I actually use one myself. :)
For me its not only an organizer to put in all my schedules but I also use it as a journal for my everyday activities. I started using this organizer/journal thing for about 3 years now and its nice to go back and read my old organizer/journal because it brings back so many memories from before.
So I'm all for the paper type organizer :)

My phone has an organizer/planner feature but I find that a notebook type planner still works best for me. I find data and dates faster on a physical notebook plus printed and handwritten materials are absorbed by my mind faster.

I don't even like the online ones. What if there is no internet connection around? Hehe.
The other reason is I can't use my gadget in public place or crowded place. Well, criminality is everywhere here, so I need to be just low-profile and be careful. At such situation, a paper notebook would be best..
