Why is going to Mars so important?

My initial thoughts were that this is stupid but when you see the technology developed to accomplish such goal it becomes easier to digest. Taking pictures of rocks and dirt doesn't get a rise out of me. What if they found some life form there then it would probable defend itself to keep from getting probed or something. I say pretend like you're going to Pluto invent something to save lives then land in my back yard take some pictures play in the dirt and leave before midnite.

Firstly welcome to Mylot. My father watches these types of programs all the time on Sky, it fascinates him. My theory is that Earth will not always be around and us humans will need another planet to call home, so we need to start looking for inhabitable planets. I believe one day that Earth will be wiped out either by the sun or by a freak asteroid, whether it's in a hundred years or a thousand scientists don't know. There has got to be life out there, we can't only be the only race in the galaxy. Or maybe we are still too prehistoric for other life forms to get in contact with us. There is life out there, somewhere, and hopefully one day a planet humans can settle on.

Thanks Wolfie34 for the love. And if your father could listen to http://www.coasttocoastam.com/ for all things space he might fall in love with it. The problem I'm still having is that we haven't perfected what we have but we want to pounce on what we don't. If I'm building a house and the roof is not on then I shouldn't go way accross to town trying to tear down mountains to think about building the same type of house. We all have die one day and to be the smartest creatures we do some crazy things. Eagles not trying to get out of here. I bet all the animals wish we would leave so that they can treasure what we take for granted. Earth.

I think it is interesting to visit Mars because is similar to earth in terms of size. Who knows maybe in a few hundred years humans will live there. Probably after the earth is done for. I am really more interested in all those planets that keep getting discovered that orbit other stars. Would be amazing if life was discovered in one of them.

Since the Mars is a planet which is the most similar with the earth we can find so far. So going to Mars seems to be so important. As the scientists can do some research there and see whether it can be another earth and let the human beings live there. Our population has been increasing and the resource, energy etc. will be run out one day. We need to find a backup planet.

Ah, now we getting warmer. So basically we are trying to find a spot so that rich people can dance around on another planet. Sure they'll send volunteers to make sure everything is kosher then what?

Going to Mars is necessary in order for the scientist to study the planet. There are still many unknown and unanswered questions among scientific community regarding all the planets in our solar system, may be by exploring Mars can provide slight glimpses to those unanswered questions for the researchers and scholars of space science study. They may have discover new materials; mineral or even rock element in the red planet which had never exist on earth. The rock and dirt study can tell the scientist the red planet past and its history in a way a lay man can't understand.

I'm still of the belief you master what you have first then go and try to master somewhere else. We went to the moon, wee. Then what Tang. When the last time someone really drank Tank? But the arguement can be made the other inventions were good.

It's science. For me, it's more than rocks. It's discovering what's surrounding us... I think it's one of the best traits of the human kind: to be eager to learn, even if that we learn isn't really cool or exciting.

OK doroffee, can't argue with that really. Oh, then again humans start playing around with a bee and a fly we get misquittos, no thank you! Figure out a way to have a person to eat one seed and be full all year then science all you want. Heck, I will volunteer. For now feed people instead of playing with grown up billion dollar toys. Pass me a seed, please!

Our scientists are always in search of or to find a planet that closely resembles earth and make life possible as in earth. So they are behind Mars which is one of the closest and they even sent a Robot to examine conditions and to take photos over there . They found some masses of water over there. To be simple mars ia an option if earth diminishes as in a movie lol

Maybe true enough. The wild rumor is the that certain elite people don't like the explosive population so they what to reduce the total population to 5 million and haven't figured out a way to do so. Now I don't care it won't happen in my oppinion unless they can leave earth freely so if I'm staying everybody staying!
