Guys, did you read the news in Yahoo today?
A fellow Filipino in the name of Kevin Balot, competed and won in the Miss International Queen 2012 a transgender/transsexual beauty pageant in Pattaya last November 2, 2012.
The contest was joined by some 21 contestants coming from 15 countries, and all of them born male....
I am so proud of him...although, he will be receiving comments regarding this especially to people who advocates purity and religiousness towards their selves...but still, we don't have the rights to condemned persons like him and still whatever his gender is, he still deserves respects and understanding.

I have read the news yesterday and honestly, I do not know what to say because this would encourage more people to follow the same path. Anyways, am sure he is very happy because it is such a high achievement for him.

C'mon you should take sides. Personally, I don't have close ties with transgenders that much, I can't associate with them even if some are my friends. I find their idea weird, like having to talk about boys when it is the girls that catches my attention. Professionally though, and in some cases, physically, they can stand their own against their male and female counterparts. In that case, I may salute them, even from a distance.

I do not have a transgender friend or colleague but I do have a brother who is gay. We're actually helping him fight this and it is really a good thing that this is also what he wants to do. He doesn't want to be one and want a normal life of a man. But I think a news like this would really make an impact to those people like him. It would encourage them to go that way, instead of trying their best to be a man. In short, I think that for some, his achievement may give motivation to others but for others, the impact could also be harmful.

I saw the news on the television and I saw Kevin Balot and he/she was a beauty! I cant help but think how did he/she manage to get that body, that complexion and that face! She's even prettier than me and yes, even though she/he's a transgender, she/he is still a Filipino and we should be proud of the fact that she came home a winner.

I saw his picture and he looks almost a woman already. I really think he deserves this and I think in some ways give some honor in our country to represent our country in their own group.
Well I think there is no need to bash him anymore fro bringing this award as we all know he is not that trashy or anything to that effect. He looks respectable and I believe he has a profession to be proud of besides joining this contest.

as far as I know transgenders dont wanted to be called "him" and "he" Oh well we are Filipinos and we have a very different perception of them. I mean here in our country, we call them Gay, when internationally, Gay and transgendered are 2 different things. Anyway from what heard by next year Miss Universe will accept transgenders and count them as women.

congratulations to her for winning the title. I saw her Facebook page and she is really beautiful, I can't see any trace that he was once a male. She truly deserves to win because her beauty is like a true female, elegant yet sophisticated.

I saw and read from the news and YES I am proud of him.
I do not agree with same s*x marriages, but I do not condemned gay people as well (transgender the least)
21 countries to beat is not an easy competition- and winning the crown made me feel proud of him

I agree with you. I do not discriminate people like them. They are just the same as we are. The only difference is that they preferred to be another gender than what they were given at birth. A lot of issues have been brought up because of this kind of "change". But no matter what the issues are, still they should be given the respect like any other person.
Success, prestige and honor is not limited to "normal" men and women alone.

yes, i have known about it on facebook. she is really beautiful and looks like a true woman. i am very proud and happy for her and i think she truly deserves to win. a lot of people can be negative and judgemental towards this, but for me, i don't see anything wrong, this is a pageant for transgender women and as long as they are not doing anything wrong to the society and people around them, that is the most important thing. they also deserve respect.

Kevin looks so pretty. No one would really notice his being a transgender as he seems to look perfectly like a woman. No discrimination from me whatever gender a person decides to have. I believe it is his right no matter what others say. As often the case, people can be judgmental and would make negative comments regarding transgenders. They simply forget that a person has his own rights.

Whoever he or she maybe i'm proud to him as a fellow filipino. It's just prove that even 3rd gender can give pinoy pride in other country.

It is really inspiring to have a filipino winning some competitions outside the philippines. Even if he is a transgender, he is still bringing the name of the philippines and should be honored too.
