Don't we all feel like that now and again?
We wake up in the morning and inwardly groan and we realise that once more we have to go though the motions. I feel like giving up on a regular basis - But we have to plod on, because it can be a lot worse - most of the World is worse off than I am. In reality I am relatively well off compared to the rest of the World, I need to give myself a mental slap and tell myself to get on with it.....
Remember to keep smiling

@robspeakman - I'm sure everyone feels that way at one time or another in their lives. But the thing I believe we need to do is stop waking up and starting our day that way. If that's how we feel when we wake then don't you agree there are changes we need to make?
I just don't want to keep 'plodding' along, ya know. And you're right, I too am much better off than alot of people around me and in the rest of the world. Suppose I should keep reminding myself of that. Thank you for posting.

Bizness, you have no idea how badly I wanted to give up. This year alone was a kick in the teeth. I've been out of work for a while and when I finally found a good job, I ended up getting sacked three weeks into my training. My boss said that I wasn't moving fast enough and I was dragging the company down. I felt sooooooooooo devastated and discouraged that I cried for a week. I drank myself into a stupor and I didn't talk to anyone for a while. I had no choice but to regroup because I want to be successful. I'm tired of getting fired. I'm tired of failing and not being able to pursue my dream of owning my own business. If I can't find work, I'm going to make work come to me. That's why I'm in my own business. The money's coming in slow, but it's better than nothing. I'm grateful for what has become of me because I do believe in myself. I will succeed and so will you. Don't give up.

I am so sorry to hear that! But I know what you mean. I own my own business and work has been slow and little money coming in. Also, I had a heart attack 3 months ago and haven't been able to work much, so again no money.
My family and I are holding on by a thread but we'll make it.
I believe you will be successful because you believe in yourself! As for work, that's what I did, brought the work to me and I love it!
What do you want to do?

What I do now is article writing, which is a perk in itself because I'm a writer. I also do data entry, blogging, and surveys. (Surveys really don't pay much, cause companies usually give them to people based on demographics and what not.) I've been at this for a month and if I really push myself.
It just goes to show that no matter how sad and pitiful I may feel, there's always someone that's suffering more than me. I know you and your family are going to pull through and I also know you're going to be successful. Keep your head up!

Yes, I have thought of giving up a lot of times. I even left home for 5 months thinking of the right thing to do with certain issues. But realized that my kids are more important than anything else. And so I stayed and kept struggling to keep my sanity.

I may not have the best life or the worst life there is. But, I would want to share my experiences to others too, to give hope and not give up (well, at least not that easily! ) Thanks, too!

Wow! Well I'm glad you came to terms with it. I know what you mean...I guess we just have to 'hang in there' and keep moving forward.
Thank you so much for sharing. I do appreciate it.

That's the reason why many people nowadays fail to achieve their goals-they don't just feel like giving up but they actually do it. It takes courage and persistence to follow your dreams and work hard on making them come true. Positive thinking and high self-assessment make me keep going instead of giving up. But I understand what you mean-we all need a break sometimes, otherwise we could strain ourselves too much and this will lead to exhaustion.

All true. For some the courage is hard sometimes. I think people tend to forget that they are not alone. There are people to talk to. Sometimes it just takes a little more 'looking' to find them, but they are there.
Plus with the internet the way it is, you can always find a place to chat, vent or ask for advice.

It happens to me all the time. It's like no matter how hard I try, I always end up as a failure. Nothing ever goes right. And that feeling's is quite heavy. I feel like I'm a loser. No matter what I do, I could never get better.

Oh no, blessedsavie, NEVER, EVER let yourself feel as if you are a loser!
I know that 'heavy' feeling...I am going through that right now, but I KNOW I am not a loser, I am just human...as we all are.
You are only human. We can only handle so much at a time before our emotions, feelings, body just kind of 'give out'. But it doesn't mean you are a failure, or a quitter, it just means it's time for a break.
Sometimes we just need to realize we all have our limitations. And trust me, I do understand how it feels when you think it's never going to change, never going to get better, but it does. Maybe not when we think it should, but it does.
I guess we just have to learn patience and not be so hard on ourselves.
Talking, venting, posting is good for the soul and helps to put things into perspective! Thank you so much for sharing. I know it couldn't have been easy.
I hope you will friend me and we will have many more discussions!

Yep! That's it exactly! 2 steps forward, 5 steps back...4 steps forward, 3 steps back...sigh, but we have to keep going!

I have started some project and then wanted to give up . I think its normal , we start something then it seems we only end up further away from where we beginning . When you feel that way look at how much you already invested and see if its ok to give up .

Agreed...sometimes I think we are all guilty of 'overloading' ourselves as well. We take on a project that becomes almost overwhelming and then we don't know what to do!
I think the best thing to do is step back, look at the situation and decide if it's worth it to continue or not...if not, then step away and leave it. And by the way, I don't think that makes anyone a quitter, I think it makes you smarter.

Yes, it happen to me too, sometimes it just feel like giving up and forget all about it. But then after i took a break, everything is back to normal again. It is time for you to take the long needed break and take some rest, then come back again to finish off whatever left behind. That is the way to go and will make you breathe a lot easier. Go ahead, take a break, it will do good for you.

Hi,
In a situation where taking two steps forward and ending up five steps back, the best maneuver is a hundred-eighty degree turn and you shall find yourself arriving at your destination. It may sound weird, out of a bad joke but it has some sense really. Take a break, turn away from it all while trying to solve the problems in a new perspective, like taking pen and paper to a lonely spot and just sit down to meditate and jot down notes as seen from this new vantage point. That's right, you need to take a break from it all.
Oftentimes, the solution to a very complex problem is the simplest one that afterwards, you would wonder why you haven't tried it in the first place. To illustrate, when one of the right-upper steel frame of my fifteen year-old, USD200 eyeglass broke near the two retaining screws, I feel it was the end for my eyesight, if I can't find a replacement ASAP, my work shall be in jeopardy. With its high replacement cost, not to mention the difficulty in finding a suitable match, I began to panic how and where can I find one. The long weekend was a blessing in disguise. I stayed home all that time, just going around the house enduring the pain of my glass-deprived eyes but always thinking about the solution.
Several attempts at self-repair resulted in the two-steps-forward-five-steps-back phenomenon almost ruining the costly lenses in the process. The solution came not
from a high-tech laser welding process to join back the frame but from an ordinary, one-inch long thread used to repair a fishing net I got from one of my fisherfolk friends down at the beach.
Bending the broken frame a little bit outwards, it is but a simple thing to tie it down to the lower part near the retainers, inserting the lens and the problem is solved. The brown thread blends well with the black frame that only a very close inspection could reveal the repair work I have done therein.
Simple solutions to complex problems, they are really possible. You should try it sometime.

Wonderful advice! And again right...I know you are absolutely right. Sometimes you just need to 'step out of the box' and access the situation from afar.
And yes a lot of times the solution is relatively simple and there the whole time.
Thanks for sharing, and glad you were able to fix the glasses!

Thanks arizen, you are right..it's just that the world seems to be constantly falling down around me. You work hard, try to be a good person, do right by others and still there's no break, no light at the end of the tunnel...
