There are people I know and have seen begging for easy money that have their own place to live. There is help for those who are homeless that want it. Those who beg and who do have money and refuse to work, why help them? Anyone who really wants to help can volunteer at soup kitchens and churches who serve meals to feed those who are homeless! Keep giving out money and your not helping the problem. YOur making it worse! There are people I have seen that are very capable of working but refuse! I have several things wrong with me. I do not like livng on handouts and, though I have helped in the past, those who beg really need a reality check because they may not be 100% honest to you and they are using you because they love easy fast money! Think of how many are trully able to work. Ask yourself who is really homeless and who has nice houses, nice cars and love scamming people! I don't hate anyone who is homeless! I used to be so don't tell me I need to be homeless before I judge! I judge because of how I see people livng and those who refuse to work or those who fool you because too many people are gullable to give money to those who do not need it!

Generosity starts from a homeless person who gives what they have to another person because they feel they need it more than you. Yes, been there done that. Yes, there are people begging for money or food so they don't have to work. Scamming as you say. Thing is Scamming is in all LEVELS OF LIFE, not just those begging for money. Actually they are not stealing from you, like many others that scam do. It is a choice whether you give your change or not. Some scams you don't know that you have been taken until it is to late and you lost more than you can afford. When giving your change or whatever, you only give enough that you choose, which usually is a handful of change. Big difference...
Yet if you look at the numbers of those that are actually homeless and need help, compared to the fake ones, there are to many that are without food, without a place to sleep, with only one set of clothes, to many. It is like the old saying, One bad apple spoils the bushel. Sad part of this is those in need loose because of attitudes develop like this one you have and decide not to help.
I will and have helped homeless and those that are in need because they couldn't pay a utility bill or get food for the week. If one out of ten scam me, it is no different than being scammed with bad products that are being sold to us. I will not stop helping because of the scammer..

Forgot something...
I would prefer giving a handfull of change everyday to a homeless person directly, than giving to these charities that spend 80 percent of the money on paying themselves first.

I totally agree with you. As much as I would want to help those people in need, I do not want to teach these people to be just out begging for money if they are strong enough to find themselves a work. It could be really frustrating coz you would see those begging for money to be spending it on street gambling, solvents that they inhale until they are high,,etc. They think that it is the obligation of those who can afford everything in life to provide them what they need.

Some people who are begging are professional beggars, but most who you see are real needy indivduals. Some are substance abusers this is the reason you may see them begging everyday in order to get whatever they are adicted too.
This is really the people who give the beggars money it don't take a rocket scientist to see if a person is begging everyday then why keep giving this person money. Especially when you don't see them improving their appearance.

I agree I have seen beggars with cars and sometimes home . They just sometime take advantage of us and see a easy way to get cash even though its disgusting . We help them because we dont know .
I see people more capable than me begging me .

One television station here in my place made a documentary about beggars. According to it beggars exist because our people are too generous...
When asked about their income, they can earn about ten thousand (equal to about 30 thousand dollar). I need to work myself like mad if I want to earn that kind of money.
But then I guess, that was those cheat people, maybe there are real beggars out there who lives under the bridge and not eat for few days...

That's true. And, you would know by a glance wheter or not these people are really homeless and street scavengers. I hate those men around parking lots who would look as if they help drivers to park and go, but they don't really do anything but just stand there and wave their hand --- then, they get some tip. Sometimes if you don't give them anything, they would curse you or worse, hit your car with a kick or slam.

I have wondered how so many could travel around the country with the "occupy movement".. My husband thinks they are 1, those supported by parents and not working much, and 2, those on long term aid from government/taxpayers.. I'm hoping he's wrong! Because that's a lot of waste of taxpayer/worker's money.
- If someone is destitute, or having very harsh times, I do not at all begrudge them the helping hand! Not at all. But I do like to see it be temporary except of course in cases of disability. It seems to me sometimes that the government likes to trap people in dependence, after all, the more who are dependent on government the more government is needed, and the bigger it grows and the more money which gets run through their hands, and the more government employees are needed. Of course this can all only go on for so long before what is supported becomes bigger and more cumbersome than what supports it! If it gets real big, the workers start looking around and say "what the heck! why am I the one sweating with working?" and they too opt for an easier way.

People who don't wanna work needs to think twice about their chosen profession. You really need to work especially with the given economy today. Even those that are still taking college, or even highschool, are forced to work, at least here in my country, since they need to support their family. Thank God, there are jobs here that pay a decent amount of money even for people who has not graduated yet.

Aside from that, there are beggars who are strong and healthy and yet they begged for money. I have a relative who is homeless and she goes to one house after another to stay for a night or so. Now I'm glad that she already has a cousin who let her stay at the latter's house.

Yes, not all beggars are homeless. They just want easy money.
