Again, that seems to be the going rate. I remember going to movies years ago for a few dollars. I recently went to the movies with the kids and it was also a matinee. The kids got in for 6 dollars and me and my girl friend paid 12 dollars. So, that is the going rate.

Yes, but can you imagine taking your 2 kids, girlfriend and yourself? You will spend almost 100 dlrs. for a movie and popcorn. Seems kinda high to me anywhere.

It is far more expensive than that here in England, although it may be similar depending on the cost of living in our respective countries. It is seriously expensive for a family, imagine paying for 2 adults and 2 children, then haing to buy drinks and popcorn.
The cinemas lost a great deal of business due to the introduction of DVDs and the option to rent them, but I fail to understand how increasing the price to compensate is likely to help. Surely this will only deter even more people from using a cinema.

I was thinking same, or even a date with dinner and movie- can be real expensive here.

It's the same across the border in Texas, and drinks and snacks are not included. In fact, theaters make their largest profits at the concession stands.

$8 I believe is about the average now a days. The one up near here is $7.50, and some up $9, although if you know where to go up in the city near here you can watch em for $1.50, I hardly ever watch a movie for that anymore. I'd prefer wait a bit for the $1.50 showing. Wreck it Ralph is the only movie I have seen lately that actually was worth the $7.50

Might be, but in mexico where min. wage is 75.00 a week, 8.00 seems really high to me.

In my home country is is more expensive to see a movie in then evening than it is in the afternoon. The people have to buy drinks and food like pop corn in addition to the ticket. I go to see a movie one to two times a year. I would expect to pay ten to twenty pounds depending if is an afternoon or evening movie. I sounds quite expensive to go to a movie in Mexico.

Sure is, and about 13.00 at night. So If you go on a date. Thats 26.00 for the tickets, 10.00 for drinks and snacks. And if you went to dinner? Way to much.

That is just about what they charge for movies here in the United States too. That's why if and when I do go to the movies (and that's only maybe 2 or 3 times a year) I always bring in my own snacks from home.
Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!!

It's expensive here too but I forget the prices exactly. I don't like to spend money on the snacks because they are very expensive as well. There are $3 theatres here with new movies, but I wonder how much there snacks are too.. Higher projection screen theatres are even more.

We also used to have a place for 3.00 on monday and wed. but not anymore now. The popcorn was 3.25 and the movie just 3.00.

Ironic, isn't it? And to think you're sort of a stone's throw away from Hollywood where most movies are made I live across the Pacific but the cost of watching a movie is around $3 to $4. No food or drinks however, but they don't cost that much. $1.50 could already get you soda and and a burger.

Here in Chile movies are cheaper, but not very cheap. The prce does not include drinks and snacks of course and those are very expensive as they will not let you bring them from the outside (you can smuggle some though). Tickets for seniors are cheaper though. At least there`s one goos thing about being old

Don't know the price of movies at a theatre now days in the States. The last time I went was about 6 years ago. Back then I decided it was cheaper to rent/buy your own movie and watch it in the comfort of my own. That way you can pause the movie to go to the bathroom or get a snack. The price at the movies is also expensive!

I agree, can you imagine what it take to take a family of 2 or 3 to movies? Might cost one a 100 bill.
