A lot of people are going out to the polls in the USA today, if they haven't already, to cast their vote. Well I won't be amongst those who do. You can say what you will, tell me that I am ruining the votes or whatever, but really I don't care for your opinion on that. What I do care for is, do you think we'd ever have online voting? One of the sites I use asked that today in a poll and it got me to thinking. I chose "I don't know" but I say it's unlikely. They have mail in ballots and that seems to work just as well. Honestly online voting could be susceptible to lots of hackers trying to change the vote... What do you think?

There is online voting for those over seas, like in the military and what not but they have to still mail in an absentee ballot to be double checked. It at this point would be way too easy to rig the vote. I know in NJ the Governor was at least trying to make the voting available via online since so many are displaced but it was being shot at by every corner due to "safety" reasons. Someday though when things are all connected even more so then now I believe there will be a version of online voting but I think online it's self will be unrecognizable to us just as a cart and horse are now to so many.

To bad this might never happen. its a great idea. Id also lie to see people go and vote where ever they want to. Many in usa are told where they have to vote at. here in Mexico you take your voting card- and can vote at any polling place.

Here it's by district, but I am not quite sure how it's divided. I know that our polling place is right in our neighborhood though.

I hope not. It is bad enough the way some of the machines can be manipulated, and it would be a lot more likely to happen in the event it was done online.

They already came back with a few machines somewhere having it count as Romney even when It's a vote for Obama. I forget where but someone took footage with their phone.

There may come a day that it can be done, but I don't foresee it anytime soon.

If they could come up with a fool proof online system it would be great, but I don't see it happening. I would rather go back to entirely paper ballots, myself-- those electronic machines are always a problem. I get a paper ballot every election because I trust my pen LOL. I don't care, personally whether people vote-- I just don't like people who DON'T vote and then complain about their elected official. If you don't exercise your right to vote, then don't complain about the results. I also dislike people who rely on any media, be it print, TV, the internet-- to inform them about what a candidate or official has actually done. When Obama ran the first time, I personally read all his speeches, all his voting records, researched his legal career, and read his books-- before I voted. For Mc Cain (whom I didn't like). I have read every bill he signed into law. I have read every executive order. I have read the entire Health Care Act--it's in my computer. I did my job as a voter-- and I get to pay for all those who didn't. I did the same with Romney, and the Libertarian, and the green party people. But at the end of the day, between the electoral college and voter ignorance, and the biased media, and Facebook, and Twitter, my vote doesn't matter to anyone but me. No media source can replace simple personal investigation and critical thinking.
