Three years before we both my danger and sweet hubby and me was take the admission in MCM(Master of Computer Management). When my hubby was sit for study only do the study for few minutes and then go here and there. Some time watch TV or walking etc. but if I start the study once then not take break at least 2 to 3 hours. In exam I passed with 64% and my sweet and danger husband not passed.
But I not guilt and my husband feel guilty but I say him I know if once a person involved in business they cant do the study but my husband take admission to take a chance. Would you like to take a break again and again while doing study.

sureka, good to know you passed the exam, sad to hear your hubby failed in it. There is nothing wrong in taking break while studying, but we must be involved in our reading time and give our full concentration in studies and learn the lesson in a good manner to get good marks

If taking break with in few minutes means no concentration and face the problem in exam. Yes concentration on study is good manner to pass the exam.

A man who is owner of a business may not be able to concentrate on studies. his mind will be only on business--how to improve it. that is why he was getting up now and then without studying with concentration. Normally women are more concentrated in their work and you have proved it,
I know it would have created a complex in your husband--i have not passed --she has passed--i am not good --this kind of feeling will be there. it can be overcome if he concentrates on business.

You are right uncle business man cant pay the concentrate on study but my hubby is take the admission because I take they feel we both will complete the study. Yes I also notice this even after lots of house work women pay more attention than man. No no not this kind of feeling but feeling bad because 10000rs. is wasted because fees was 100000. I knows my sweet and danger hubby is intelligent than me and they also know they are great than me.

Yes. I understand. He is worried about the money being wasted. that is nothing. what is important is confidence and interest in life. If that is lost everything is lost.
surekha - you have told 10000 in one place and 100000 in another place. which is correct. Rs.10000/.

I just used to take breaks repeatably soon after every fifteen or twenty minutes. I have plenty of scoldings and comments from my parents when I do so. I tried my ways to control it but still I do the same but I am quite sure that I give my best for the fifteen or twenty minutes which I sit in front of my book.

twenty minutes is too short a period for concentration. you are studying in college. studies require more concentration. read for one hour, take five minutes break and then study again-- 3 to 4 hours you must study every day and before exams 8/10 hours per day,

have the habit of studying continously, once i start it goes upto many hours and then a break and again start. if i start taking breaks in between , then loose the concentration on what i study.

it is like this. when we come to mylot we must be able to concentrate 100% on mylot. I know surekha cannot do that. she will have extra responsibilities towards taking care of in-laws and others. in spite of that surekha is doing a good job.
Prashu:
I am of the view we should study for an hour. take a break for five minutes and then study again for next one hour like that,.

I think the reason why your hubby take the break again and again while doing study is because he can not focus his attention on those study, and may be he do not has interested in it.
And by the way,in my opinion,I think people should take a break after 1 hour working or studing, that is good for your health as well as efficiency.

Study habits are developed when we are in grammar school. When we're younger we learn how to read and write and count. Those habits should be carried into our adult life, if we didn't have good study habits as a young student then becoming an older student will be twice as hard because there are so many distractions. Plus, who is going to tell us to turn of the sports or to stop watching our favorite television show? Nobody, we should do the work, then play. It sounds like your husband learned a hard lesson.

When I would study it would really depend on what I was trying to do.. There were some assignments that I could sit and work for hours at a time without taking a break.. But then there were others that I had a hard time staying focused on so I ended up taking a break every hour or so; sometimes sooner..
Each person has their own way of learning.. Some can keep at it for hours where as other need to get up and move around.. The main thing is the ablity to learn the material and get good grades/marks.. Retaining information and being able to use what you learn is the key..

When I was in school, I would keep myself to strict guidelines of when I needed to be studying and when I was able to have some time for myself. The reason that I held myself to the standards that I had for myself was because of the fact that I wanted to do really well in my classes, but I also realized that all work and no play would have never been something that would have been able to work for me.
I would make sure that I had one hour of time for me scheduled in for every three hours that I was going to be spending studying.

Hi surekharathi,
To study effectively one must sit down and concentrate on the subject matter for a considerable amount of time, certainly not for a few minutes unless one is a genius. For me when I'm studying I would usually take a short break after an hour or so. I would walk around a bit and get some fresh air, go for a toilet break, drink some water etc, just to rest my mind and not think of the subject. I also like to study when it's very quiet and that means I will wake up very early when everyone is still asleep and I find that my concentration and retaining power is very good.
Anyway whatever suits you is fine I guess. By the way why do you call your husband sweet and danger(ous)? I don't get what you mean by danger(ous).

I don't like studying. I don't study unless it's absolutely necessary. And if it is, I do it at the very last minute. I usually pass with high grades in the past. I just hope I still keep having high marks now. I have an exam in January and I just scan the reviewer. It seems pretty easy. But I still feel like I might not pass because I hadn't seriously study the materials. I can't bring myself to study it now because I know it's still a long way before the actual exams. Sigh. Curse my laziness. I applaud those people who likes studying.
