I can't remember exactly when this happened before, but it happened once before already.
One night we went to bed, like we normally do. My husband got onto the bed and all you heard was thunk. The boxspring fell off the bedframe.
Somehow, the frame part that attaches to the headboard came lose, and allowed the boxspring fell as a result.
I had hammered it back into place and thought nothing of it. Until last night that is.
When we went to bed, we were just reading first. But after my husband turned off the light and climbed into bed, thunk! The boxspring fell again.
We pulled it back through, got back into bed, and thunk! My side went down. We left it the way it was.
My husband refused to deal with it last night.
I fixed it today by adjusting the screws, but it seems like the frame is bent, and it's just a matter of time before it happens again.
We're looking at replacing it and hopefully we can replace it soon. It's a nice canopy bed frame, it's just too bad that we have to get rid of it.
I just hope it doesn't do this again any time soon.

Can you re-enforce or replace it with wood instead? A canopy bed is a nice bed, and I wouldn't want to get rid of it either. We have always tried to re-enforce beds as much as possible before tossing it for good.
Hopefully you can do the same. Lumber is probably cheaper (for the amount you'd need) then a new frame altogether.

Actually, we're looking at possibly getting a frame for about $65 if we're lucky. Otherwise we'd buy a brand new one for about the same price.
The frame doesn't have a mid beam, so it will make it difficult to reinforce it with plywood or anything. I'm not sure how we'd do that either.

Well hopefully you'll be able to get a new frame then. Without a mid beam, I suppose it'd have to be a very big piece of wood, and that could be costly, and difficult.
Is the new frame going to still be canopy?

Unfortunately it will not be.
If I can replace the frame itself, might be able to keep the canopy part of it. Didn't really think about that, but it's maybe an option.

Can you cut some slats out of 1x4's and make them wide enough to bridge the gap? Then the box springs would not fall through. I think I remember you posting about this before.

The frame lacking a mid support beam makes this impossible to do. I guess I could replace the frame, might still work with the rest of it.

I had this happen before then we put some sort of support under the bed in prime spots. Worked like a charm and didn't cost anything.. of course I don't know if it would work for yours.

I would be incensed, why did your husband refuse to do it? Surely the bed affects him too, I mean he does sleep in the bed, so surely he'd have the interest in fixing it, men! Sounds like my father, anything goes wrong in their house and it's always my poor mother left to fix it, he ain't got a clue and he's damn lazy. I hope you do get it fixed and it doesn't cost to much to fix or replace.

I hate when that happens. I hope you can replace the gram and keep the rest. Good luck with finding another.

I would be so irritated if this happened to me. I remember years ago I had an old daybed frame bed, and the middle bar kept breaking, and it was held up by a block of wood. It kept falling apart, and I just left it with a giant hole that you sank into uuntil I got a new bed. Why not just take the freame out and put the boxspring, and mattress on the floor.

I had this happen with my ex several times. We finally had to buy a new frame. Seems the bed matress didnt fit right on the frame. Even though we bought it all as one piece. Good luck with yours there. See you here soon.

Well, you can use a wooden frame if you want and make sure that there is support in the middle. My husband threw our metal frame and replaced a wooden frame and support. Until now, it is still in shape and we find it very comfortable than the metal frame because it don't squick at all.
