Condominiums are the most convenient residence if you're living in the metro. Its almost always close to the workplace, commercial, and sometimes near the utility vehicles such as trains, taxi, etc. That is why, most developers place their condominiums at the heart of the city. The only problem with this is, most developed areas don't have enough space anymore to accomodate large units. Since Real Estate is still business, they have to think of a solution to earn big with such small space. The only thing they could think of is to the reduce space. Though it still a humane space, but its so difficult to just fill it in, right? Here are some tip I'd like to share to all of you, specially if your planning to buy condo units in the future. How to get started... 1. Identify the use of the Room. Once you identify, you can now arrange your furnitures accordingly. 2. Observe the natural flow. Traffic patterns are dictated by doors and walls, so try to work it by rearranging furniture to suit the existing paths. 3. Find your outlets. Existing outlets, cable, and telephone jacks will also determine where your furnishings will go. As much as possible always locate the applience near the outlet to minimize the use of extensions. 4.Let go of some pieces. Just accept that some of your pieces may not work in your new arrangement, whether the size is not right or there are too many pieces. Letting go of some pieces will help to have the best layout. Hope this will help. I got this from one of the articles from Real Living Magazine. Since then, this became my bible in designing condominium units.

I don't live in a condominium but I do have a small space too. Hanging shelves are big help, I am planning to have one more in our bedroom, also you can maximize the space buy utilizing underneath spaces like under the beds :) It is a challenge to live in a small space but having live with it for almost two years now, I get used to it somehow.

Yeah! More storage space really helps alot. I remember I have a client who has a very small unit, we don't have a choice but to put up alot ofcabinets and storage space even at the back of their sofa. I have design cabinets that will not jeopardize aesthetics, that was my most difficult project ever yet. Hope I will stll be challenge with those kind of projects again.
