Collecting something becomes a hobby at times. Usually the thing that one collects is something one likes. I used to collect notebooks and miniature houses. Whenever I see them, I'm happy. I write something in front page of the notebook, something inspiring always. I knew someone who collects bags and perfumes. They are also happy whenever they see these things. One collector said, at times she gave her collections as gift to someone. What do you think of collecting something? Do you have collections too?

You're not alone. I know someone who is very rich yet still keeps the shampoos and other amenities from hotels he stayed at. I found shampoos and soaps from hotel he visited 15 years ago! You're right. These can be your souvenir. Anyway, it's okay for you to take it since you paid for it.

Hello dear edvc, I am interested in collecting ballpoint pens and Historical one rupee coins. I have about 1900 ball point pens in my collection without any duplicates in them. For this collection I could manage to get certificate from Limca book of records the year 2000. My entry is seen in the limca Book of Record 2000 publication.
Similarly I have got about 135 one rupee coin collection with me and for this collection also my name has-been entered in the Limca Book of Records. This one rupee coin collection includes One rupee coins of ancient India, including first One rupee ever came into circulation, which was introduced by Sher Shah Suri in 1542AH, and I have got one rupee coins belonging to Mogul era, Princely Estates, British India, East India Company and Post Independent India. I have coins from other countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and Seychelles where the currency is one rupee. High light of my collecting is coins with mint errors.
Thanks a lot for the discussion I enjoyed participating in it!

I used to be a real collector, to the point of hoarding stuff, when I was younger I travelled a lot and would collect mementoes from my trips away, everything from postcards, shells, train and plane tickets, everything to remind me of my voyage away, now because my collections grew and grew, I had to store them. Well after moving home six times I began to stop collecting, and in the end I threw most of the stuff out, it was heavy work having to package it all up and take it to the new home. Now I collect nothing! It puts me off knowing that if I move again, I will have to take it all with me.

Hi, this is so good. yes i have seen people collecting various things as habit. One of my friend even used to collect all the wrappers of chocolate and some items which we all friends spend time and are used by us. She used to tick all those in a book and used to take our views on the book (written ones) . I don't have any such habit of collecting any thing.Even some friends collect the stamps and cons.
Wow giving collecting items as gifts! amazing idea ,but will the people who receive this gift keep the items with much care? i mean may be they don't have that attachment as the person who collected them. Anyways it depends on people and also differs from person to person. Have a good day.

That is interesting. I am fascinated too on the different wrappers of chocolate and that is good collecting some memorabilia of friends. I known someone who collects the gift tags on all the gifts given to her and her family. She said, " a remembrance" too. I think some of collections have indeed sentimental values. Thanks for sharing this.
Have a nice day!

Yes, like you do I have also collections right now. One is the stuff that has a logo of our company. I am doing that because, one time it came to my mind that I can not predict how long will I stay on my present company, so better to collect those stuff that will make me as a memorabilia in my employer. I have shirts already, key chains, ball pens, even fan and umbrella. Anything that came from my company and having a logo as a sign that long ago I worked with them.

Maybe you like your company much. It is good to hear that you are collecting the logo of your company as a memorabilia. It is something new for collections. Whenever you see them, I'm sure you will be reminded of your memories in your company. Certainly, you are happy. Thanks for sharing this.
Have a nice day!

I collect fabric. Since I'm a quilter, I make sure that any fabric I get can be used in a qulit. However my collection has gotten ahead of my ability to use it. I can't give away or (heaven forbid) throw out any of my collection because that piece might be just what I need for my next quilt.

I used to be interested in collecting things, but lately I have been trying to eliminate unnecessary clutter so I have been giving things away instead of acquiring more stuff.
I have a small collection of art, a lot of books, some CDs. I live in a small space, so there really isn't room for a big collection of any kind.
