I have heard that green tea helps loose weight. But now I am learning that green tea helps lower cholesterol http://www.livestrong.com/article/396844-tea-to-reduce-cholesterol Among other sites. Has anyone ever used Green Tea for either of these issues? I drink orange peoko/black tea (Lipton) all day long. I have read the caffeine isn't an issue and could possibly help lower cholesterol but the green tea intrigues me to help with both issues...loose weight and lower cholesterol. But like everything...just cause they say it works, doesn't mean it does. so..has anyone ever tried green tea...for anything...and has it worked? And if so...where and what kind did you get?

I drink tea frequently, the regular kind. I have found it has a great many benefits. It is good when I have a sore throat or other cold and flu symptoms and it settles my stomach when it is in an uproar. I have heard great things about green tea from some of my friends. I just can't seem to develop a taste for it. I have always been a picky eater though. Green tea has antioxidants which is a good additive to prevent cancer and heart disease.

I drink Lipton...all day long! I wasn't aware that the green had a diff flavor. That is depressing! I love my tea flavor. I take the ACAI for the antioxidants so I am not to concerned about that, but I was hoping I'd be able to drink it for the weight loss or cholestrol bene's.

You should at least try it. You might like the taste, or at least not hate it. I know I have developed a liking for many things by trying them several times. I just have not felt the need to develop a taste for green tea. Also I am a fairly picky eater which is strange since I have to take some medicine on a daily basis which tastes gross and I have developed the ability to stand that.

I've never heard that caffeine can lower cholesterol. That's good to know. Sometimes mine is a little high due to genetics. I've heard about green tea and weight loss. Unfortunately the amount of extra calories you burn with green tea on its own is minimal. Since it does give you energy it may help your weight loss. You'd just have to remember to drink more water since the caffeine will dehydrate you. I still wouldn't call it a miracle diet solution. I've taken them off and on from time to time. I particularly like to take them before a work out with lots of water for a extra boost of energy.

I just wanted to add that my friend who is a personal trainer does like to suggest them for weight loss. He admits they don't do a lot but says every little bit helps.

I tried the capsules once and they didn't work for me. But perhaps it was the brand that was the problem. Incidentally, you mentioned Sensa in a prior discussion, right? Dr. Oz is doing one of his shows this week on Sense. I think it might be Thursday's episode.

I haven't used green tea for weight loss. I have heard good things about from the "better health" perspective. One of my guilty pleasures is watching Dr. Oz. I find the show pretty informative. And a few weeks ago he had a show on about the benefits of green coffee bean extract, with chlorogenic acid. I went out and bought some. That isn't something I do. But.. even the audience members who were given the placebo lost weight. I have been taking it for close to 6 weeks. I have lost weight! Nothing magical, almost 5 pounds. I wonder if I start drinking the green tea if that would be beneficial also,

I watch him to, but missed that one! What brand did you buy? I am trying to find the proper brand of the green tea to buy to make iced tea instead of the Lipton I use. I know Lipton has a green tea variety, but I compared them and they both have the same ingredients and antioxidants etc...slightly different, but not enough diff to pay nearly twice as much for the green version..it didn't that that much more than the regular!

I heard the same but I did not loose any weight. Me, my (elderly) daughters and the little ones plus my friends only drink green tea (whole day on). Nobody lost any weight at all. Same with other things I tried like HCG and iodine for example. Might be some people loose weight with it. But if it would really work it should work for everyone. If you want to lower your cholestrol you better check your food-habits first. Less stress will help also. Since green tea is just tea. It might help but you should not expect miracles from it. Esp not if your food/drinking habits are far from healthy.

Oh, I'm healthy enough. I have alot of stress so that is a problem and not being able to exercise right to loose weight is my problem. I walk, but dont' loose anything but do it for the cardio features.I agree tho..if they say it does something, it should do it for everyone! But I guess since all bodies are different..we can't win them all! I think I can lower my Cholestrol I just have to figure out why it went up in a year. I think it was partly red meat...we just bought our first house as I settle in for nearly retirement...and being in an apartment for so long...(5 years) I missed bar-b-q'd/grilled meats SO MUCH...so now in the house..we can have a grill out back and we made up for lost time! Sirloin and such was on sale...cheapest meat in the market! So we ate it alot and that could be part of it. I also have acid reflux and was eating before bed so the acids would have something to eat on other than me...and doctor said that was a no no. I only did it to keep off meds, but I'd rather have the meds than the cholestrol!
