Election.. election is fast approaching and is just around the corner.. to many it will be a time for merry making, for those people who don't have jobs, it is a time to earn money by being employed by these politicians even if these people do not know the platform or the kind of person the politician they are working for! For businesses its time to make money.. in other words election is all about money( Philippines) this is also the time when the GDP is high because of the money from the government, the politicians, private individuals that goes around come election time! What a waste of money and government resources and after election what we people get.. Why can't we adopt a two or three party system so that we the voters are assured that we are voting for the platform of government that these parties stand for and not on personalities... also to have series of conventions wherein only the people with capacity and integrity are the ones that we are voting for.. these will save precious time and resources which could be put to good use.. On the other hand why can't we adopt the way the Indigenous Peoples select... not elect their leaders.. It is done through consensus and not thru majority and it is done by raising the hands of the people or we in the city call voters.. others choose their leaders by people falling in line behind the leader that they would want to lead them.. less cost and time spent on campaigning.. these are radical thoughts but may be good for the Filipinos..

Hi, Election time, the pillar of democracy. The ways and means has come a long way here, still we seem to be in the dark ages with what you have shown. The question remains as long as those people up there don't mend their ways and do as we desired. I would like to add to your long list of things to do the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill that has been around ever since the world began, without the "Anti" word, of course.

Yes I agree with you where in the world would you find brother or sisters or father and son in the Senate, or husband and wife as mayor and governor... only in the Philippines! Why.. is this the only family that have the monopoly of knowledge and capability of leading the nation or the province or town... money yes.. But the electorate should also be blamed why we have this.. we keep on electing people despite of this because we rather elect people based on popularity and not on platforms for which they stand..

well, i really cant blame people who works for electoral candidates not knowing whatis that candidate's agenda. as you know, our economy is really down right now and a lot of people needs money to sustain their everyday needs. but this does not have to be always like this, we must do a move. your idea of the election process would be a good start. i hope this can be heard by our senators.

Yes money would indeed flow fast in the hands of these politicians who will spend their money to win the elections. I just hope that they would not overspend so that if they would indeed win they would not take it back from the coffers of the government to repay their supporters. I think that has become the trend in our country. I do agree that having too many political party makes it difficult to pinpoint who the people are in this group since we are allowed with so many political parties that makes their agendas a bit blurred already as they looked the same with just different faces with them. I think the parties like what the US has adopted is effective having just Democrats and Republicans and if there are any independent then there is three. I guess here in our country there are just too many aspirants that if we allow only two parties many will not be given the chance to ran because of this.
