Hello Lotters, Of course, she isn't dead yet, and it's not new that maids are harmed or harassed in the Middle east. but this time, it was done by our "own" Ambassador. there goes the denial again, claiming that the accusation is false due to political reasons..but somehow I doubt it's true. well, process should be done first before any kind of scandal such as this. even though that maid was undocumented, if the employer even cared he should have filled her requirements.

I've heard that news too and that was totally strange that by our own ambassador was the one who did that instead of protecting his countrymen in the middle east. Isn't that it is like he represented already on how Filipina are being treated in the middle east especially the maids? Then I think that must be a reflection and now a big lesson that Filipinas shouldn't really work overseas especially in the middle east because expect it that they will be eaten by the crocodiles over there then in the end justice will be trashed.

Hello metatronik, I don't think it's new when a filipina maid is abused because most of them are there due illegal process of recruitment. Even though i think she knew that's illegal, she was risking it all just for a good future to their relatives in the province. way too many poor people out there risking abroad.

indeed, this is the worst that could ever happen to an overseas worker. an embassy is supposed to help those people from their own countries. it is worst if an embassy especially the ambassador turns back to their job and turn against their own country people. this incident is the worst inightmare of any overseas worker when the very people who are supposed to help you are the ones that betray your trust.

Hello mensab, It's sad that the lady went through this thing and it had to be one of our government officials that supposed to protect us. they should fire this person and replace it with a new one and that's simple. I know that not all government officials are corrupt but you really can't help hating them for starters making our people leave the country for their own benefit.

Well I happen to know the reputation of this ambassador. I am quite shocked and surprised that he was being accused of rape. For all I know about a couple of years ago or so this man was operated in Philippine heart center because he was suffering from heart disease. He is strictly forbidden to engage into any strenuous physical activities. Although he recovered but I saw the gradual slowdown of this person because of his condition. That is why I am quite surprised if he was still able to do such an activity towards his maid. But anyway I have not seen him these past few months already so I really do not know if he has fully recovered and restored back his strength and vigor to be able to commit as such. We will see when the full blown investigation is conducted by DFA. I think he was ordered to leave his position right now and is ordered to go back to our office pending investigation.

That Ambassador must be investigated to avoid any immorality happen withing the Department of Foreign Affairs. Those are the one who help our Filipino, fellow their in abroad. But they get maltreatment and abuse from those corrupt ambassadors and foreign workers...

its really sad to hear her story... well, the person who should be helping her in such cases was actually the person who did harm to her. hopefully she'll get the right justice. this is one of the main reasons why i dont wanna get out of the country to look for a job. id rather stay here than get into trouble like that.

It's kinda depressing to hear news such as this. Our OFWs should feel safe under the care of the Philippine Embassy of the countries they are at and this happens. Well, all evidenced should be presented so that the truth comes out and that due justice should be given to whoever was aggrieved.
