My son was playing yesterday. He opened my closet and got my box. When I glanced at him, I saw the box and my letters scattered all around. Yes, the box contains all the letters I received from my family and friends when I was about 12 years old. They are about hundreds of them. I kept them for almost 30 years until now. Some are friendly letters, some are greeting cards during my birthdays and Christmas, valentines. Whenever, I read them , it bring back memories of my friends and memories during childhood years. We have our own families now and some of them had gone abroad. The only remembrance I have with them are the letters in my box. :-)

I also have a box which I call "My Journey Box". It contains memories, good or bad, of things that are significant to me. Once in a while, I open it and cherish the memories it bring. Sometimes, I tell stories of it to my nephews and nieces so they could learn from those experiences I had and be able to understand life even better.

I don't have any such, as by the time i entered high school, the internet and email has come to existence. Hmm i am not so lucky like other generations.

Oh,,wow! that's amazing! I also keep my letters from my close friends when I was in high school and college but sad to say some collections are already dilapidated. I already neglected some of them. So sad,
I'm fond in collection but this time I think I'm so busy that didn't pay much attention to my letters.
Thank you for sharing this.

Perhaps you need to put the box up high or out of sight where he can't reach them. Don't know how old your son is but it sounds like he is not old enough to appreciate all your letters. I have some family letters and family photos that I know my kids will appreciate more when they are older. One letter was written to me from my Grandmother a few years before she passed away. I treasure that letter. I know my kids will appreciate that letter when they are older. My kids are young adults, but they are so busy with their lives that I know it will take until they are older adults to appreciate their family history.
