I am having a problem with one of my three dogs because a bone got stuck in his mouth/teeth and no matter what he does, he could not remove it. This is the dog that is the most difficult to tie a leash to because he simply avoids it. I tried to let him come near me so I can try to get it but he has distanced himself. His mouth could not close now and I do not know what to do. Today is Sunday so there are no vets to call for help. It is also hard for anyone to go near this dog of mine because he does not want to get caught or go near anyone. Any suggestions?

If you can't put a leash on him, how could a vet help you?
You must do something to help him. Bribe him with something he likes, make him enter a narrow place when you can catch him. Corner him and reward him with goodies to stay calm and let you come close. Grab his maxilar with one hand and make him open the mouth. With the other hand, try to take off the bone. I'm sure you'll succeed. Be brave and help him!

I had an experience just like your dog's case before. The dog of my uncle had a bone stuck in her teeth when she was a puppy. Since it is still a puppy me and my aunt got the bone out from her mouth because the dog is approachable. My aunt opened the mouth of the dog carefully so that she wont bite my aunt, then I had to use some stick strong enough to get the bone out from the teeth. it is successful though its quite painful for the dog. if these doesn't work better to rush your dog at the vet.

hi cutie, I have taken out bone which was stuck in my dogs teeth. it was easy to remove because my dog would come to me when I called and he would let me help him take out the bone. I hope this bone is not a big one which is stuck in your dogs mouth. I can't suggest any tips because he is not coming near you. Maybe you should wait for him to calm down and then try to give him food and he comes near you.. I hope i have made some sense to you., Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

I'm sorry to hear that. It would be painful for me to watch my dog suffer not being able to close his mouth. Is he a big dog? My dog is only 4 lbs. If a bone ever got stuck in her teeth I'd just grab her and take it out. Even if she was avoiding me I'd be doing it for her own good. Could you possibly get someone to help you hold the dog? Or are you afraid of getting bitten? Maybe if you're lucky he'll get it out himself over night.
