I just joined a Clean-up drive along with volunteers in our village (sitio) where runs the famous Kennon Road. It was a sunny day so, under the sun, we labored cutting off the overgrowth and street sweeping. We had no other means to rid off the trash so we burned them. We conduct similar regular activities whole-round but sad to say photos would show the very same faces. We work without pay so, we charge it to Heaven.

I did something like that many years ago when I was in high school. We walked along the main road some 5km long and picked up any trash along the way. It was in a small town; not in a suburb or metropolitan area where street clean up would be done by the city council regularly.

Clean-up drives are fun for me, and fulfilling. You not only can make a place look better, you're also in some way, helping save the environment, especially when you're doing clean-up drives along the beaches and forests. And I also get to meet new friends. Just wondering though why you local government hadn't provided means of picking up the trash.
