According to Google, 1 USD is 41.05 php (Filipino peso).. So I'd like to ask to the Filipino community; how much does this improve your standard of living? I'm quite jealous of the potential you guys are able to earn, yet I'm also concerned on how things are priced over there..

I am surprised that you are jealous of this. We are considered a third world country so you must know how our economy is. If asked, most people would probably want to be U.S. citizens or just working anywhere abroad, just as long as it was not here. The prices here are not really that much different from other places I guess, I mean of course, unless they were imported then they are definitely more expensive. It also depends on which region of the country you are. In some regions the cost of living is higher than some others, normally this is the metropolitan areas. In major cities gadgets and techs are less expensive but food supplies and raw materials are more expensive compared to small towns and provinces.

I'm jealous in that Filipinos get to earn quite a lot over a period of time. I myself was doing a charity event and made $50 from it. It's really not much in my opinion, but again; it's the potential amount of money that they're making is what I'm so jealous about..
It's kind of like getting oodles and oodles of money just for posting on facebook/twitter; too good to be true in my book. You understand what I'm getting at?
If not, I just like looking at the numbers

The numbers may seem many but the value is just not much. For example, McDonald value meals here are 50 pesos and that's around 1.1 dollars, fare is around a quarter to 50 cents in dollar via public transportation but taxi cabs starting rate is roughly around 1 dollar. So you see, it's not really that much, I guess.

I have many Filipino friends working in the gulf area. Over their they are getting paid in Riyals which has a fix exchange rate against the USD.
Now when the dollar value dropped last year and the pesos gained strength against it, the riyal kept the same rate against the dollar so these guys lost a lot because for them it is like you deducted from their salaries

I have a friend from Phillipines who earn 100 dollars so that equals to php4105 right? Wow, I think she can live off for a month with the money.
