Waking up when it's dark outside :(

Today I had to wake up very early and do some work. So later in the day I decided to take a nap and continue afterwards since I am at home all day! I didn't put my alarm because I thought I would wake up after a while but I slept for 2 hours and now I woke up and it's night outside. It's getting dark really early over here, since the sun sets at around 17:00 and it gets dark a bit later. I don't like waking up when it's dark outside, no matter if it's early in the morning or during the night! I think that it will be hard for me to fall asleep tonight and I will feel my head being heavy all afternoon. Have you ever overslept at your afternoon nap and wake up in the dark?

Exactly, it feels like the day is over and we lost it. However, now that your son is so young you should take advantage of all the time you can get for a nap because my friend had a baby one year ago and she feels tired all the time because of the lack of sleep! The baby has so much energy and wakes up in the middle of the night every 3 hours!

yeah my son does the same thing. he barely sleeps so i try and get as much sleep as i can. now that im starting to work again im exausted because i have no time to sleep at all. babies always have so much energy i am jealous of them.

No matter how tired I am. but I still can't sleep during the day time. I probably take a nap for thirty minutes the most but still the sleep won't be that deep. i got tire all day yesterday, so I went to bed early last night and to my surprise I woke up late still this morning. I thought it as still early like six o'clock or something but when I look at the clock it was nine already. :D

You must have been very tired then! I am afraid that if I sleep too early for the night, I will wake up in the middle of the night! It's good that you have a light nap in the afternoon, this is refreshing and good, comparing to deep sleep that leaves us with a headache after waking up!

I was still tired till today, hubby, my daughter and I took a nap from 230 till 5 this afternoon. I can't believe I have slept that long, I must have been so tired. I was refreshed but got tired after awhile again. I don't think this is good anymore, I don't feel healthy anymore.

I have to set the alarm clock next time! I wanted to sleep enough to rest but not for so many hours! Thankfully my night sleep wasn't ruined and I want to bed at the regular time as always!

I'm a night person so the dark doesn't bother me. I prefer it. When I worked, my job was a 3rd shift. In the fall and winter when I got up about 7pm it was already dark and when I came home in the morning at 6am it was still dark, until we turned back the clocks in October. Then it was just starting to get light out at 6am. All year it was dark when I went to work. I left the house at 9pm. I have more energy at night. My peak energy time is between 1-3am. I would rather sleep all day and be up all night.

I like night too, but I really think that I get more rest at my night sleep comparing to all other times! I am now trying to make a program and wake up early so I have to sleep early at night. Usuall I go to bed at midnight or a bit later! When I was a student, I was offered to work at a night club for the pr with very good money, and I denied just because I would have to stay up all night and it would mess up my sleeping hours and I was afraid that I would stop going to my classes eventually! It seems that you have found your balance though, and you have a steady program which is very important for your metabolism!

Yes, I think some people are just more night people and others are day people. Not sure what it is in our bodies that makes us like that but I'm sure it's true. I'll think Ill go look it up. And maybe mylot will reward me for using the search!

i have a tradition of not going out in the dark. as for working during the night, that is the only time i have to work. i could find myself working until midnight. i always tell myself to watch it, i am courting insomnia but i think i am falling to the trap of internet addiction myself.

Time passes really fast when you are online. Many times I want to sleep early and I end up working until late or watching films or chatting with friends. Be careful with your sleeping hours, although I think that midnight is a good time to go to bed. I rarely sleep earlier, maybe sometimes I stay up until 1 or 2 am but I don't have problems with sleeping. Do you wake up very early in the morning?

I am a night person, so i am okay with dark places, although that's true, having been overslept resulting to difficulty of sleeping at night again. then the cycle of sound sleeping will be disrupted and totally change because you will tend to stay up late to wait for your "sleepy moment". If I want to sleep early or on the time i should sleep I take antihistamine hahahaha sorry, on medications though i take this really during night time because I have allegic rhinitis. Wrong advise if you dont have allergies don't follow that.

LOL! My friend has allergies and she feels sleepy all the time when she takes antihistamine pills! I don't like taking pills and I don't have any allergies! It was good because I didn't stay up all night, I was able to sleep at the usual time and woke up in the morning before my alarm!

I hate waking up early to start with. When I do the same thing happens to me...I"ll fall asleep on the couch and wake up when it's dark. I'm usually watching a movie and falling asleep during it I don't get to see the end of it.

I can never fall asleep with a movie unless it's too bad, or else I will stay up just to see the ending! But I fall asleep with the tv sometimes and it's just like today. During the summer I didn't mind very much because it was getting dark at 9 pm so I still had the rest of the afternoon in front of me! Now I feel like the day is over and I just woke up!

Yes, I have and I really hate is to wake up with a headache! That is why I really do not want to have a nap coz the headache usually comes as soon as I get up.

I had experienced oversleeping in the afternoon yesterday. I took a nap and thought I will be awake in awhile but its already 6pm when I woke up. Maybe I overslept because I do not feel well and maybe due to my meds.. I don't like oversleeping too.

It's still dark here at 7 am and already dark here at 4pm I think and soon it will be earlier dark as well. Lately my son said as I picked him up at 3pm he felt as if it was in the middle of night. I felt the same since it was dark/grey whole day on. It does make you feel tired indeed. It's hard to find some time to sleep at daytime so I would not easily go to bed (I can't sleep on the couch). If so I would set the alarm clock since I have to pick up my kids from school and I don't want them to get into panic if I do not show up.

It seems that you have a schedule that doesn't allow you to get an afternoon nap! I don't do it very often too, but today it's Sunday and I thought I should take a break for a while! I wish I had made a coffee instead!

I can feel you. I experienced the same thing when I was still in college. Because we have a lot of things to do at school I usually sleep late at night and wake up early to prepare myself for the day. I usually gets home around five o'clock and usually the sun is still up high. Since I feel very sleepy, I tend to fall asleep and will wake up at seven o'clock which like what you've said, it usually caused my head to ache and will make me feel dizzy and even have body malaise. Though I don't have problems of falling asleep, it is still inconvenient when you feel those things. Maybe you could try to change your sleeping pattern in a way that you won't end up waking up when it's already dark outside.

I am waking up early in the morning, I really enjoy it and I tried hard to make my sleeping program like that. I used to wake up after a few concequent alarms and now I usually open my eyes just befor the alarm rings! It's a great feeling for me because I always wanted to achieve that! After an afternoon nap I also feel that dizziness and I am not in the mood to do anything. It takes time to fully wake up when it is dark outside.

I like waking up in the morning, but yes if it's too early and dark it's better to wake up a bit later! It's also very cold outside before the sunrise so I prefer going to work at 9 and coming back later, comparing to others that have to be there at 7 am!
