It is estimated that 200 people are born every minute world wide. Have you seen a population boost recently in your area? When I was a child there was probably less than a third of the population in my area than there is now. Have you seen a change in yours?

I now live in the country and four children is not very many and people don't turn there heads when you say you have four children as loads of people have four or more children in there families. When we lived in the city, four children was a lot.
I know when I was growing up everyone seen to have two children in there familes and people really looked if you had more than two children. I made friends with a girl in my class at primary school and was totally shocked that she was the ledest of four children, she was the only person I knew for years who had four children in her family

We have to be careful but they have everything we can afford ot give them. Thankfully love and hugs don't cost anything.
Hubby is very careful that we don't overspend and go into debt, but ensures that if they need something then they can have it.
Your friend made me laugh as well. If you are in touch still you will have to tell her that I have a girl/boy twins.

I thought my girlfriend was so funny one time when she stated that when she married she wanted to have twins, a boy and a girl, and then she would have both and wouldn't have to go through a pregnacy again. Four children isn't alot if you can afford to take care of them.

I've not paid much attention to the increase of population here and it's hard to tell without relying on websites or the news. I do think that it can become a problem, for the environment first and foremost, but for the health and safety of everyone as well.
After all, too many people together.. sometimes isn't a good thing.

"they" whom?
The newscasters / census takers?
The Environmentalists?
Or the "many people together" ?
Sorry, It's really early in the morning and it was a semi late night for me

Celtice, since now everything is getting expensive, i think people living in city area don't have many children. I see people in my area mostly have only either 1 or 2 children. But, living in the rural or village area is totally different scenario. Every family seems are having more than 3 children or even more than that. I ever heard one of my relatives who stayed in village area said the more children you have in a home brings merrier life. Seems like, everyone have different opinion regarding this issue.

Yes, I think it really depends on how devoted people are to family and family life.

I have seen it in my neighbors...that despite of their social and economic status, they continue to bear child which they can't already afford to raise! So pathetic, they can't even send their children to school or buy a new pair of slippers!

It really is pathetic! Religions and personal beliefs against the pill and such keep the population going up. I wonder why they think they are so poor?

I live in India and I think the population is not increasing in our area very fast.It can be because of lack of resources in our area

So people aren't coming to live in your particular area due to a lack of resources? Just wanted to be sure I was clear on your meaning.

The area around my house used to be very calm. I used to enjoy every day a cup of coffee in the morning on the balcony. Nowadays the street is overcrowded and you cannot even sit outside. I closed all my balcony with glass.
The main problem in my country is not the birth rate but the lack of jobs outside the capital which is pushing everyone to live in the capital.
Also, the government service is all consentrated in the capital and if it exists outside of it it is deteriorating.
Public transportation is also an issue. If you don't provide good public transport everyone will use their cars and the noise and pollution level will increase

Some very good points. Once things are established in the capitol area it is hard to move that unless there are annexs or whatever. And new companies probably wouldn't want to establish themselves in less populated areas. Sad.

Good discussion, celticeagle. It's funny you mention it because in a discussion I did a couple weeks ago I found out that in Germany and Canada they are trying to increase their population. Which really surprised me because in the United States you always hear about overpopulation. People get judgy about parents who have more than four children. But hey, if we get too many people in America we'll just take them to Montana, North and South Dakota and Wyoming. They've got plenty of room!

And in my watching of Conspiracy Theory there are rumors of what is called 'depopulation' by such as the Banderberg Society and such. I think Utah should hander the big families. They seem to have a manopoly on it. lol They tried to originally have a huge tract of land as their state to be called Deseret. I still think if a couple is able to afford alot of kids and they want them they should be able to have them, but, it is the ones that are impoverished and still keep having more that irritate me. Why do they think they are poor? Gheesh! Get a clue people!

and 4 exceptionally interesting and modern today type discussions! where did you come up with all this interesting stuff? or is it just me today. guess we pretty well think alike, except i cant put it in such good words. cool! ive noticed people all over still continueing to procreate in spite of the desperate condition everyone is in. i did it out of ignorance but today, there are people actually wanting more kids and im thinking a lot has to do with the economy especially here. you only get government help if you have kids.

There was a marathon of Doomsday Preppers on today! I am always interested in off beat things and I tend to think of the worst possible scenario usually too. I hate that about myself! I knew a women years ago when the welfare checks were set up differently that would have another child every few years just so she could get more on her check. Can you believe it? The poor kids! Mom would come home long enough to get her check and then hand over the kids to the older child and off she'd go! I reported her! She wasn't happy!

In the city I live are population is down around 2,000 people. Have not been paying attention to other towns and cities in the area. I do know in alot of poor countries have that problem! I know in China they have a one child rule and they still have over 1 billion people! India has over a billion people and they just keep growing! Alot of familes have lots of children and continue to if some die! It looks like Indis is not in the fame of mind to have a one child law like China has anytime soon! In Africa alot of countries families are expected to have large families! If they don't they get critized for it! No wonder some parts of the contitent have very poor countries which has famine and of course wars! Then you hear some animals in Africa are becoming endangered do to the human population exploding and taking ove their home! WIsh some of these countries could and would get people use birth control! If not famine will get more wide spread!

You'd think there'd be more people in 'Packer Land'. lol Yes, there are many areas of the world that are way over populated. I think it just makes it harder if there is an emergency.

Have a big problem here in Mexico. To many people, not enough jobs or even places for them to live. If you see a house or an apt. for rent her it probably rents to high or is dump. We just have to many people here.

That is a shame. Not much you can do either. I would give moving some serious thought.
