wonderful..
What a player..
He is extraordinary player i think
Barcelona is lucky because of Messi..
Based on infostrada statistic, Messi now had scored 76 goals in 59 games in this year , 2012..It breaks the record goals of Pele in one year, 75 goals in 1958
Barcelona official website said that 64 goals made in 51 games with barcelona and 12 goals with playing for argentina national team
Now messi maybe hunt record of Germany legend, Gerd Mueller. Mueller makes 85 goals in one year, and he created in 1972..
Messi still have 13 matches in this year (11 with barcelona and 2 for argentina)
wow..it`s incredible record..
amazing..
he is brilliant..

Yes, I agree that Messi is brilliant, he is maybe the best player in the history, but is very hard to compare his records with the ones of Pele or Gerd Muller. They have all played in different ages, in different leagues and different styles. But we have to acknowledge his greatness and be happy that we are fortunate to witness him playing, to enjoy what he produces on the field.

so we should use statistic for comparing the player..it`s easy measurement..
how many goals Gerd Muller scores for Germany national team?how many goals Pele scores goals for Brazil national team? and so on for Messi?
what is their award and achievement for their personally from the club or maybe from the national team?

I think that there will never be a total agreement about the value of the different players. But it is important to have our own way of appreciation and enjoy football played at the highest level. If we take only the numbers, it is almost impossible to beat Gerd Muller's national team record. But football is more than numbers...

I am bit old school on this. I still believe that Messi would not be in Pele class till he leads Argentina to victory. For me international football is bigger than club football. There is no doubting that Messi has won everything that is to win in club football, but he still needs to win the big one.
Cheers!

yes..it`s the shortcomings of Messi as footballer..
He isn`t same level like Zinedine Zidane, Maradonna, Ronaldo (Brazil), Juergen Klinsman, Pele, Casillas, Xavi, David Villa, Fransesco Totti, allesandro del Piero because Messi until now didn`t bring the trophy of world cup for his country
but he is still younger..maybe Argentina football federation should makes the best tactics for exploring the huge talent of Messi etc..

There is no word to describe Messi and to state his importance to the team. Incredible records here. The only downside, the lack of international rewards. While he is firing all cylinder for the club, unless he won something with Argentina, some critics will pinpoint that as the reason why he is not among the best players in the world.

I hope he breaks that record too. It is amazing see him playing. I really think that Barcelona has won a lot of Championships because of him.
Barcelona has great players, incredible ones, but Messi is the one who always appears making magic with the ball, no one could do that.

Yeah! He is just amazing! With his skils, his scoring abilty, he can conquer the football world. And he is not even a CF! It is true what Thierry Henry said, he is an 'Alien'!
