Normally, aging people retired at the age of sixty or sixty-five. However, at these modern times, I have known aging people who are still busy and work. They maybe writers, consultants, carpenters, salesmen, etc. Even my own parents who are sixty above are still working. We want them to stop, however, they won't because they say they get bored at the house. I really appreciate them however we always see to it that they are healthy. I think they are happy working and being with people around. What do you think of this? Have you known age people who are on the go too?

I know quite a few people above the age of 65 who still work. The usual reason is the one that your parents gave, the simple fact that the work environment is part of their social life so they do not wish to sit at home and become bored.
It all depends on 2 main factors, whether or not you feel healthy enough to continue working and how much you enjoy the job that you are doing. Some of the companies here insist that a person retires at a certain age, but the majority are perfectly happy to continue employing someone as long as they can continue performing their duties well.

I think that's really one of the reasons why they still work. Not doing anything gets them bored. Some even say that they feel useless or have no purpose in life left if they don't work. My Dad, who has retired a few years ago, claims that if he doesn't work, he feels sick and lethargic at times. Well, maybe it's all psychological. But if working makes them happy, as what my parents say, then I wouldn't stop them from doing so. well, as long as it doesn't affect their health.

Yes, that is true. My mom said that too that she feels sick in doing nothing. She is very industrious. My dad is taking medicines for his liver however, he insisted in working still. He feels sick when he is doing nothing too. He loves to be with his people too. I really appreciate them.
Good day!

My dad is 71 years old. He doesn't look like his age because he really takes care of his health. He never smoked. He drinks occasionally. He keeps himself busy by continuously doing research in the field of Marine Biology. (He has a Ph.D in Marine Biology) Aside from that he still teaches in College (in English and Science subjects) and also he is writing manuals for Elementary and High School Science. Other books he recently published was a Dictionary in 4 dialects in the Philippines and also a cookbook of edible seaweeds.
I am really proud of him.

hi
that's really nice, one thing good about the modern times, is the senior people want to work and pass their time . Its unlike the olden days. Now people are really active and happy. I like such people. But still there are who feel life is all over after sixty, i feel very sad about such people.

Hi there! Yes, I know a handful of people who're 60 and above and still working.
They said staying home and doing nothing would just be the reason or cause of their sickness. Probably they took really good care of their body when they were younger. And it shows that till now they are full of energy. :)

maybe they just want to spend their time in a fruitful way. it doesnt mean that if their old they cant do the things that they want.

The pope starts his carreer being older, many presidents are way older so are kings/queens. The people in my country are forced to work longer to pay for the Greek and other South Europe countries so these people (who never saved like we were (forced) to do for later) can quit working earlier. I think everybody should decide him-/herself when to quit. Those who have their own business will continue working over here longer anyway since they have to safe for their own pension in a different way.

Especially those who own their own businesses, seem that they continue to run their business well through their sixties or even seventies. Perhaps they still need the income, or they cannot find anyone else to run the business, or as you said, they choose to continue being active to avoid boredom in retiring. I think there is nothing wrong as long as the choice make them healthy and happy.
