I and many others don't like the idea of being given medicine, one of the reasons I never went to a psychologist or psychiatrist. I can also not be sure I am truly depressed, but I want to know what kind of things you do to overcome depression.

I think Yoga is one of the best method to sublimate depression without taking any medicine.

What works for some may not always work for others. Medications are not always the answer, although for some they are life savers. And not all depression is caused by lack of certain chemicals in the brain. You could be lacking in any number of things - vitamins or minerals as well as an imbalance in hormones. Here are some good sites that recommend natural treatments. I have used them and found them helpful. I had taken medications of every sort for 30+ years. Some helped some didn't. But I was not doing the right thing for myself. And today's medications can be even more dangerous than those of the past. http://altmedicine.about.com/od/healthconditionsatod/a/Depression1.htm www.livestrong.com/article/276342-herbal-remedies-for-depression/ www.livestrong.com/article/77900-herbs-treat-depression/ www.onlymyhealth.com/ayurvedic-treatment-depression-1313747043 and www.tcmpage.com/hpdepression.html Some of the herbs mentioned in these articles - rhodiola, kava kava, ashwagandha and damiana I have used with quite a bit of success. When buying herbs you must get high quality products or they won't help. There are many low quality products on the market. Also, it's very important to research the herbs thoroughly. Problems from taking them can arise under certain circumstances. I have never had a problem but some times herbs can have an effect on existing conditions or conflict with some medications. I hope you find something here to help you out. Good luck!

Perhaps one may try to listen to soothing music. They called it music therapy. Meditation is a good way too. Go for prayer, seek the source/root of the issue. Once resolved, things will be better. When we are stress, we can have some ice cream/chocolates to unwind and relax.

I think the best cure for depression is prayer. I said so because I already used it and did it and it worked for me. I suffered a total depression when I was in college but then because of my family support and a daily prayers my burden took away little by little. I never think for a medicine as a cure for depression before.

The one who faces the problems will over come depression also. And the one who guyide you in tough times is the Lord. So, believe in God and keep faith in him.God will take care of your problems and take away depression too. Take care..God bless you.

Hi there. I am not really an expert on this. But maybe you can keep yourself busy or you should face the reality for you to overcome it totally. You know yourself more so the best person to help yourself is YOU. Just take your time in overcoming it. You will really get through the tough times so you have to be strong. Keep the people who are caring for you and don't seek for people who don't care to you at all. Pray and ask God for some guidance, He is just always there for us.
