Mexico city, mexico is very populated. It takes 3 hours to go across the city. So the metro has expanded here. You can go the 5 miles in like 40 minutes.. and costs just 50 cents. Driving, in bus or by taxi would be about 3 hrs. How is it where you live?

In my country (Egypt) the metro in Cairo save the time, it is speed and Ticket price is cheap , there are many stages to extend the subway line to new areas .. Currently doing the duration of the prairie to El -Shrouk city ( sunrise ) in the Cairo-Suez Road by what I read from some months . Blessing

My town is very small. It takes about ten minutes to drive clear across it. I think that is a very smart thing, though, that the metro is so convenient and inexpensive.

Here in Dubai also everyone is using Dubai Metro. Dubai metro is in Guinness World records as the worlds largest driver less metro system. You can ride the entire city just 14 AED unlimited travel including Dubai bus. I am proud to be the part of this amazing city.

Your city is like ours also. It takes several minutes and hours to go to a stones throw destination. There are times that i feel so stressed that I want to go back to my hometown, where we have simplier things there. Still, I am at home in this city, amidst the traffic and congestion. I can find everything I need here in Manila Philippines. Thanks

Hi mariaperalta, i am living in a busy city too, filled with people and industries. Also, the living expenses here is really high. So, the cost of getting transportation here is surely expensive. It's a surprise that yours cost just 50 cents. Next time maybe i should pay a visit to Mexico for holiday. =)

$0,5? Lucky you are. Here in Athens the ticket costs 1.4 Euros For 1 and a half hour (a 25% raise is expected in the coming year). The city is not that spread widely like Berlin for instance but the traffic jam is highly noticeable at the streets and the use of metro, subway, tube or whatever is called worldwide is necessary.

Sounds like you have high prices like in the usa. I used to live there in vegas. I paid 2.00 for a short bus ride there.

It is such a big metropolitan city within Mexico, with a population of 22 million people and as a center of various government institutions and businesses, no doubt one has to cover wide and long distances in order to see them all. Compare to the Aztec's time of old Mexico City of Tenochtitlan and Tlatelolco, it definitely had expanded and modernized so much beyond belief. If the public transportation only cost 50 cents to travel around the city, that is really cheap. It is the first time i heard of this, what sort of transportation you are talking about, only manage to go 5 miles in 40 minutes??

I am in Florida and in our area we have a trolly. I have never taken it but I think a friend of mine said it was a 1.00. Yes taking a taxi is lots more. But I see a lot of people waiting on the trolly to come for quite awhile. Mexico is the best. I have cruised both sides. In Mazatlan we had a guy who had his own little taxi with the covered top. He took my son and I for 10.00 and told us more about the country as he had grown up there. he started driving the taxi and had been doing it over 22 years when we met him. Such a darling man he was. My son and I remember him fondly!

Thanks for best response. I am catching up on these. Usually I get a notice from mylot in my email on best responses. But lately not. So this is late. Now I know I have to watch this interest as well LOL I have been to Puerto Valarte, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, Celica, Costa Maya. Its amazing to learn so much! In Celica we went and got to see the Mayan Ruins. Seeing that was just amazing to see history so up close and personal. I cannot say enough good things about Mexico. I go to a favorite Mexican restaurant where I live. I talk with each of the boys that know me and tell me about their native country. you are blessed to have such rich and abundant history and cultures!

Well, I think you know already how it is here. Driving here is always a nightmare. And the trains, well, from my house to Manhattan by train would be about 45 minutes. Not too bad. But during rush hour, well, everything is congested.
