what is it with people making fake accounts

I have come across a few like that. I guess it just goes to show they are either immature or unbalanced. I think ignoring it is the only thing you can do. It's sort of scary and sad the way we find some things out about the people we know or knew.

Just ignore these kind of request as it does not brings any benefit, but maybe troubles later since you see the picture was your son's ex-girlfriend with a different name. I think some people have too much time on their hands to create mischief and subterfuge. It's games people play, they are childish and idiotic. Another reason I don't like Facebook. Because people are behind a computer it gives me them a sense of bravado, and think they can cause others annoyance without fear of reprisal.

People create some fake accounts just to take advantage of those innocent ones. Some have their valid reasons just to complete their purpose. It's nice seeing some security checks on some sites, checking their IP address and stuff like that. And I hope people should stop doing things like this as it may only lead to confusion and fights among members. Thanks

A lot of people really do those kind of stuffs. They choose different good faces around then post it so that they can have more friends and make their account look legit. So I suggest that we should accept only those people that we know. :)

People do this all the time. I cant understand why. I have an internet cafe business here. Im surprised to see kids on facebook, and the avatar photos are not even them. They are chatting with people all around the world.

I feel that there are people on face book that just want to find out what is going on in your life and the only way that they are able to do it either by getting a friend of theirs to add you, or make a fake account up. Some people just prefer to look to see what other people are getting up to, so that they can tell other people, so they can stir up trouble. I am thinking of deleting my whole account, as there is nothing on there that I can see of any interest to me, when there are far better sites that I can go on and other things to do.

She may be trying to stay involved in your life or your business (or your son's life and business through you). That's one reason why you should never "friend" someone whose name you don't recognize. On the other hand, teenagers and younger adults often have two or more facebook accounts, one in their own name, and others in a different name, so that their parents or their parents' friends can't see some of their postings. Not sure how old this ex-girlfriend is, but that might be one reason why she changed the name or started a new facebook page under a different name. Either way, I would block her.

It's kind of a simple way to start a new identity. Maybe she wants to be known not as 'some guy's ex,' but as an individual (or as 'some new guy's current-girlfriend )

Welcome to myLot lisasarah123. :) I know some people who have multiple accounts but not fake accounts. I guess they have it to spy and be unknown to other people.

Well I guess those people are just bored with their lives! :)

They want to stalk to some people of their interest , for what ever reason they got still it is not good.

i think they make fake acounts so they can spy your activity on facebook as someone else.and to try comment and listen your story.we must warned about that

That's creepy. I don't know why people do that either. I had someone desperately trying to get on my friends list as well. They made multiple accounts then tried having their friends add me. I think they just wanted to Facebook stalk me. When I first opened my Facebook account I used to just add anyone. I figured even if I didn't know the person I welcome the idea of new friendships. After that experience I go through everyone's profile with a fine tooth comb before adding anyone. I'm sure you've already reported the profile. Hopefully she leaver you and your son alone soon.

I feel people make fake accounts so that they can spy on people. It's sad (and scary), but I've had it happened to 2 family members. Their exes made multiple accounts and tried to friend me, but I was warned so I declined.

People do the most stupid things sometimes. I know they do it to check on people and see what others are saying or who they are with, etc. It is ridiculous!

I guess they tried to stalk at your profile. Private your profile, that only people who has mutual friends can sent you request in that case if they do new fake account again they cannot send friend request. Such kind of people is not happy for what happened they want you down for sure or they just want to know something. I had encountered like that before.
