I'm really excited because today is the first day that my hourly rate will be increased. When I went into work on Saturday I sat with the manager and signed a paper for the pay change that came along with the new position I was given.
I was hired at $10 and I was supposed to jump up $1.50 because of the position. My manager said that Monday it would actually take effect. I'm excited to go to work today because I know I'll be making a bit more. I'm starting to really get the hang of working the registers and doing all the different things that come with my lead position. I've always been the type of person that doesn't like talking on the phone or calling to order because I don't like having to talk to people I don't know. Lol I don't know why, but I've just always been that way. The phones are behind the registers and I've been trying to avoid having to answer. WEll yesterday I overcame my little fear and I answered the phone.
After doing that I feel better and now I feel really comfortable doing everything. Work is actually fun for me now and I don't mind being there. I'm also excited to see what my paycheck will be like with the new increase.

Yea :)
No, that isn't weird at all. A lot of people have the issue - especially when they start a job. I don't have a problem so much with answering the phone, but I really hate calling people.

I hate calling people or places when I don't know them. And I also hate answering phones at work. But I guess it's just something that I'll get more comfortable with the more I get used to it. It's actually not as bad as I always thought it was lol

Congratulations! I've received two pay raises so far in the company I work for but I have yet to get the third one after getting promoted. I hope I get it soon.

Thank you :) My job is only part time and we're supposed to get a raise annually if you pass the evaluations and stuff. But I was lucky enough to get promoted to a better position. I'm loving the extra money and I'm also loving the actual position I'm working! I'm definitely even more excited and motivated to be at work now.

We were supposed to get an annual increase too but due to the recession it was put on hold for a few years until last year. This year looks like it's on hold too. But like you I'd feel more motivated when I do get it.

Oh wow, that definitely ruins things a bit. Little raises like that really help keep up motivation. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to not get any raises...well, I kind of already went through that with my last job lol!
But I hope things work out and you can get your raise soon

Congrats on your raise!
I tried to get one from my boss a few months ago. My boss said no. LOL I know I deserved one (not to toot my own horn), but what was I supposed to do? So I continued to work there. Fortunately for me I just got hired elsewhere. Better pay, better hours, all around better job. So I gave my notice and start my new job in a few days. Needless to say I am totally stoked!
Happy mylotting!
PS I'm not big on talking on the phone either. So I'm glad my new job doesn't require it.

Thank you :) I'm really excited to be at this new job earning more and actually enjoying what I do.
The same thing happened at my old job. I was there for almost a year and I was still making minimum wage. I found out that they were hiring new people at 8 something. Of course I was a bit upset and I brought it up to a manager and she told me that we weren't supposed to discuss pay etc. So I basically got nowhere and ended up with no raise. I was fed up with working there and I ended up quitting. As I was leaving there one day I just so happened to see a "coming soon" sign in the store right next to my old job. I applied right when I got home and a few hours later I got a call to set up an interview. Since then I've been at that job getting paid much better and treated so nice by all the managers. It's much better and I feel like my work is actually appreciated now.

Thank you :) This raise will really keep me motivated...especially through the busy holiday season where the store will be swamped. But that will only mean I'll be getting really good hours to work and my paychecks will be great and I can save up.

Congratulations on your raise! I'm sure you'll work hard to increase it even more!
If possible, I think you should do something nice for yourself (doesn't have to be monetarily). Raises don't come every day, and you want to celebrate getting rewarded for your hard work!

Thanks! I'm not quite sure how I'll reward myself. I'd love to go out to dinner or something with my boyfriend. But unfortunately he's in the army and in Korea :( So until he comes back to visit, I'll just save my money and that way I'll have money to spend for when he comes back down.

Wow, that is really an awesome news. Congrats! I am a little excited myself and could not wait for my next pay either. I have been redesignated and at the same time promoted to a higher level. I had undergone the three months probation and according to the agreement my salary will be increased after the probationary period is over and that means by end of this month. Weee...hehe I have actually reminded the Human Resource personnel about it just in case. Enjoy with your new adventure and looking forward pay!

Although I'm late...
Congratulations on the pay raise!
I remember always getting a little jump in my step whenever I get a pay raise. Not only does it give you the financial increase, it somehow gives you the validation that you're doing a good job.
HNY!

that was really great for you,and we also hoping here in our work that after we raise our salary increase the admin will granted it,because we also wanted to increase our rate and we have many reasons for that,we already made the letter and we will send it to the agency as soon as possible on Monday.

I'm really proud for you CourtKnee. It's awesome to have a job you enjoy. Maybe you will be able to advance to top managerial duties if you stay there long enough.

Thank you :) It definitely would be nice if I eventually got promoted to a manager or something. I think that the next step for me would be becoming a key holder to the store. I'm just really happy I'm getting the hang of everything and getting a pay increase. The job really is perfect because I get enough hours to earn a decent pay check and I still have time to do schoolwork and other things.

Right now I'm trying really hard to save up my money. I do occasionally buy a few things for myself here and there but for the next month or so I'm not going to because Christmas is coming up and my mom doesn't want me buying stuff because she wants to get them for me lol.
What I'd really like to do is save as much as I can so I can eventually move out. My boyfriend is currently in the army and when he gets out in a few years, we'd like to live together. I would really like to have the money to be able to do that with him so I'm trying to save up now.

What a delightful early Christmas present. That's a pretty big raise. Also it sounds like you're really adjusting to your job. I'm very happy for you. Continue to push yourself and I'm sure you'll get far in life.
On a side note lol.......
You know you remind me of someone I work with. One of my employees was afraid of answering the phone and talking to people he did not know. I just made him do it all the time until he snapped out of it. He hated me for about a week but he understands why I pushed him and like yourself has gotten over his fear. I believe facing your fear is the best way to conquer it.

Yes, thank you :) I'm definitely glad I'll be seeing some extra money coming in. It's a good reward for my hard work. Answering the phone isn't so bad for me anymore. I did it once the other day and yesterday I had to call around to a few stores to find out if any of them had a certain pair of shoes. It really isn't all that bad and I think I was just psyching myself out since I normally don't like answering the phone lol.

Hi!
Congratulations to you for getting a pay hike. No work is difficult, provided we have will to perform it. Our actions cures our fears and apprehensions. Hope you grow in the organisation where you work and achieve many more milestones. All the best.

I'm very happy for you. At the rate of our world economy, pay increase is not a benefit that everyone enjoys. I'm sure you are doing well with your job and keep it up.
It has been said "You take care of your work and money will take care of itself"
Sure enough, you are now enjoying the fruits of your labor. Savor this moment and focus on your work once again so that there will be more dough to come.
