I can't believe that I...

Friday we went to the grand opening of a new farm supply store. When Bill announced that we would be going there on Friday I was thrilled because I wanted to enter the drawing for the door prizes. One of the prizes was a $150 gift certificate for animal food. As many of you know, with the herd of critters I have the $150 would really help out a lot. After all, four cats and three dogs, plus two outside cats do eat a large amount of food. One of the dogs is a Pit/Lab mix and she eats four times the amount that the dachshunds do. Saturday night I prayed that I would win the $150 gift certificate. I don't win anything other than bags of cow manure. No joke, at a grand opening of a garden store one of the prizes was five bags of cow manure, and I won it!!! My father was thrilled because he could use it on the lawn...and he "said" he would give me some money for the manure but he never did. Anyway, that is the one and only time that anyone in my family won anything. I also don't wish for the big things in life, I only wish for the things in life that I need. It was a simple prayer, asking for the certificate because I could use the extra help with feeding God's creatures. I went to sleep and all day Sunday I didn't think about the drawing. I dismissed it because I don't win things. Sunday was busy, I was working on teddy bears for the shop, restringing pearls, and then Bill called and asked if I was up to cutting some of the wood that is in my front yard. He said we would work on it for half an hour and then take our ride around the neighborhood. So, I put aside what I was doing and we cut the wood. When we were finished Bill went home to dust off the sawdust and get ready for our ride. We take along pop sickles, two slim jims, two cookies, and two pieces of chocolate. The ride takes about an hour as we not only go for our own enjoyment but we also do a neighborhood check. We got back from the ride and I started working on dinner for that evening. Bill was coming down for dinner and I was serving meatloaf. Of course, as always, my hands were full of ICK and the telephone rang. The caller I.D. showed that it was the new farm supply place, so I answered it. The person on the other end asked me my name, address etc. I was getting kind of edgy and then the person said "Congratulations!!!" I figured that I won the $50 worth of tools. I love tools so that would be wonderful in itself. The voice on the other end stated again "Congratulations, you have won the grand prize!!!" My brain snapped to attention and I sputtered "What????" The voice again congratulated me and stated "You have won an 22 ton log splitter". I uttered those intelligent words of "HUH???????" The voice laughed and stated it again, "You have won a log splitter that has the splitting power of 22 tons. The value of the splitter is $1200!!!" I was in awe, not that I can use a log splitter, but I actually won something!!! I kind of heard the voice stating that it would take a couple of days for them to put together the log splitter because they sold all the ones that they had on display that had already been put together. Bill was in awe when I called him and told him. The first thing he wanted to know is what I was going to do with it. I don't need one and Bill already has one...it's a bit large for a bookend! I still can't believe that I WON!!! I WON!!! WOW, I WON!!!!! I get to pick up the splitter on Friday. Have you won anything? What was it??? Were you as surprised as I was????

Would you believe that I sold it the same day I brought it home? Bill told a neighbor about it and he and his friend came and took a look at it (great guard dogs I have...they didn't utter one peep with two men in my yard!!) and bought it on the spot. I am going to post a really great and hilarious discussion about it in a few minutes. I am going to spend some of it on the herd...dog and cat food! It is amazing how much I go through each month. Of course there will be enough for some really nice Christmas gifts and also catch up a couple of bills. PLUS, I am getting a replacement guitar for one that I had to sell when I lived in Montana. I can't believe that one that is the same make as the one I sold came available. I also am going to get a flat screen television. Whatever is left is going into savings...although if I can find one at a good price I might get a cat tree for the monsters.

Obviously you should rush out & buy a lottery ticket ASAP! Maybe your stretch of luck would fit that in....! Who knows? Congrats, too, on getting the deal done before the Taxman could hear about it. BraVA, gal! Maggiepie

when our daughters were young, we used to take them into Build A Bear because they both had stuffed animals from there and liked to check out the latest gear and clothes they had for their stuffies. the store happened to be having some sort of special event that Saturday when we went in and i wasn't watching where i was walking, i was just looking at the stuff the girls were showing us. all of sudden there was an announcement about a winner who was standing on a sticker on the floor and i looked down and i just happened to be standing there. i ended up winning a Build A Bear prize pack that had a book and i cannot remember what else in it. my youngest daughter was pretty thrilled though!

That is so great! The most I have won is a bag of cow manure and also a $50 gift certificate for the college bookstore. Of course it was kind of a waste as I buy my school books online...but it still was a wonderful feeling. I've been wanting to go to Build a Bear, but there isn't one close to me. They're all about 150 - 200 miles away from home.

Congrats. I have no idea what I would do with cow manure! I won a few food prizes from the McDonalds Monopoly game. And I have one a couple of small cash prizes off my lottery tickets. That isn't much is it? Enjoy your splitter.

Congrats!!!!! I've won a couple things...the most I ever won was $600 at bingo. I've won a couple of small sweepstakes from survey sites, but nothing spectatular. Since you don't need it, I would sell it. You could probably get $1000 for it.

Congratulations to you on winning that I had my fair share of winning some. The most recent is that receiving a free trip to a tourist spot in my country, free airfare, allowance and accomodation. I was so surprise of getting these, since I had a slim chance of winning. Godo thing I waited for the announcement of results. I hope I can have aother one in the future for I have to share it with my wife too. Thanks

Hope you enjoy utilizing your grand prize gift. =D Well, i never won a grand prize before...so i wouldn't know how it would felt like. But surely it is really enjoying and happy to have one experience like that. Hehe.. But smaller goods i have won before like vouchers and goodies. Some are quite useful to me till now. =)

I won a meal for 4 at McDonalds that someone else put my name in. But the big deal was when I won a contest that was $100 certificate at a grocery, $100 of certificates for shows and $100 from a record store. And let me tell you, that $100 from grocery was badly needed!

WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!! congrats Loverbear, what an amazing prize, even without having our wood burner working now, I would love a wood splitter. That is totally cool.... I have won various things in my life, a plant, a whole cake, bottle of Jack Daniels, but I think the biggest win was when I won the $600.00 scholarship through my school a year ago. After my grant paid for my classes and books, that left me with about $100.00 which I used for flea drops for my dogs because even though my husband said he would pay for what they need if I care for them, he hasn't held up his end of the bargain. They were due for another treatment last month, I am hoping it gets cold enough to keep the fleas at bay and that I can save the money up myself to buy another round for next year. Again, congrats, that is so cool...:D

I would be selling that log splitter! It is cool that you won something, but even nicer that you won something worth $1200!! Even if you only get a portion of what it is worth it sure would help out right? Congratulations! I can't remember a time when I ever won anything in a drawing.
