There is a LOT of photo abuse - uploading of copy-righted and/or irrelevant photos - and this is becoming too much if myLot rely only on users to point them out.
We need an admin to deal with them as soon as they are posted, exactly like we have you for the discussions, tasks and everything else.

Hello admin,
I've checked my picture on my gallery and I don't find any spam comment, as I know only people in our friend list that may leave comment on our picture in the profile page right? So to avoid getting spam comment we need to be careful when we approve friend request, check the profile and if all their activity just leaving comment on picture or something like "I'm interest to get to know more about you, contact me at this email xxxx@xxx.com" best to delete this person from the friend list.
If we uploaded picture on interest or discussion, anyone is free to leave the comment but do we get notification when someone left comment on our picture? We can see the comment on our activity page on our profile but I think some people not aware of that. So everyone need to see their activity page to see if they received spam comment on the picture they've uploaded.
How about filtering email address? Like automatically ban anything that similar to email address (example: email@email.com ) just the same way as you filter bad words, unless if they alter the @ to be (at)

There is no 'report' option against comments made on the photos! There is no provision for disallowing email addresses.

If I'm not mistaken there are several words that we cannot post on mylot (like the nickname for Richard aka d1ck, etc), so maybe the admin can add anything that similar to email address to the filtered list. I mean automatically ban the word not automatically ban the person.
We cannot ban a user but we can help the admin by reporting the spammer or delete the spam comment we received

Yes, from time to time I think it happens. Even here sometimes in my Messages I have received them as well, or in some of my discussions. I always try and post ! if they are against the TOS, etc. here and hope that in time these can be removed. People here need to learn that this site is more for sharing of ideas than having people spamming them and their photos, discussions, messages with programs, etc. that they need to look into. That is for other places other than here.

I think the reason the Spamalot Brigade have turned their attention to the photos is because Admin and the members are so sharp about reporting spam in discussions.
Although we want to keep MyLot completely 'clean' of spam, at least there's a slight consolation in knowing that nowhere near so many people see the photos as the boards, so the spam isn't spreading too far. Or have I got that wrong? I don't do technical.

Some of us report the images too but, as you suggest, not as often as the discussions because there are way too many of them and they are not so easily available.
On the first page here admin said he will deal with them too soon as there are MANY that should never have been posted
The spam at the week-end was seen by a user and then they passed it on so that we could get it to admin's attention. there was a lot of it,

Well I am enjoying a laugh fright of the blue.f eeling down for no good reason I needed a laugh. my, lambie she nmust have fallen for your avatar and liked to get called bad names. still grinning.this reminds me of on Facebook I had a guy in his forties who keep responding to me and asking me to start a relationship. I was polite and told him I was not interested as I was old enough to be his grandmother. the idiot wrote back"oh age is no matter I just want to get to know you better my love." grrrrr that did it I wrote back "I am 86 and had a long marriage and very happy one. Now do find yourself someone yo ur own age." I think that finally did it as he never responded again . My son still teases me about this jerk.

I wish this was an alert rather than a topic for discussion as not everyone will come here. Just a suggestion. Yes. I too have seen someone offering her 'friendship' of a different kind through comments posted on our photos even those posted on discussions!! Will remember to report next time.

Thank you for letting us know. I will have to go through my photos. Is there a way we can get messages through email to let us know if a comment was made on one of our photos?

Hello GoaskAlice, I don't look into my photo's lately because it's only four photos. but if the comments on those photos are a violation then i will definitely delete it. I have checked the comments there and i don't see any spammer. but thanks for the heads up, we will delete it in case we see a spammer. though i kinda have a problem with loosing some points here in my post, i guess that's something i need to live it

Thanks for pointing out, i will surely check.
Another suggestion can the pictures/avtars can be made copy-proof, so that they can't be copied

Hey admin! Although this comment of mine is about a month delayed (I'm sure you know my reasons for you are all-knowing and all-seeing...but just in case -- my daughter got sick, plus I rarely do my mylot duties, but when I do, I do it all-day if I have to...hehehe), thanks for the heads up! Will make sure to remember your reminder here. But so far, so good...I have yet to see any spammed photos in the discussions that I was able to comment on today. You're doing a great job admin! Thought you should know that

If it is outright unsolicited spam from someone who is here only to spam, then yes, report them to me. Otherwise, just remove them from your friends list.

Can we abuse the spammers? Please say it is OK to make insulting remarks about their mothers.....

I love abusing trolls and spammers - it's one of the few things I look forward to every day. To make sure I abuse them effectively, I usually have a few large vodkas first. At least, that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it - it's one of the better ones.

Hmm I never look at my photos to see what people comment because I am active doing other things on here. If I got a notification to my email that someone commented on a photo of mine that would help but I dont get that. I will have to at least look at my profile pictures and see if there is any spam. So far the only place I've ever noticed spam is to my mylot inbox.

Admin, spammers are finding ways to spam this great site, we don't allow them to spoil the reputation of our great site. It is our duty to check the photo comments and remove the unwanted ones, surely i will check my photo comments and remove the spams. It will be good if you check the task section and avoid the spammers to create unwanted tasks, some spammers are using the task section and creating tasks, but they take more time to approve the tasks and hold it in pending stage.
