Hi neelia!
I still remember when I was assigned in our regional office which is just a few meters from our home. I used to walk when going to and from the office. I don't only get the healthy benefits of walking but also it is one way of saving some extra bucks.
Welcome to myLot! Have a nice day!

Of course walking is a healthy exercise. Since I don't like jogging, so I have to find a suitable exercise for me. And actually everyday I go to work and go home on foot. It spends me about half an hour. This is not so tiring but I already regard it as my daily exercise. Perhaps I can't see the near benefits now, but in the long term this exercise certainly be helpful for my health.

You are absolutely right. Walking is the simplest form but the best exercise. It is free of charge! I totally agree with you that walking lowers low density lipoproteins which is bad cholesterols and raises high density lipoproteins which is good cholesterols. Last year I joined the neighborhood watch. We walk around the neighborhood to take charge of the security. We did it by brisk walking and I made a lot of friends. But now the neighborhood watch committee gave us each a bicycle to cycle around to keep watch. We even have walkie talkies.

Welcome to mylot
No doubt walking is the best, simplest and most effective form of exercise, but walking must be FAST your hand should also swing, so that you burn calories and sweat; i used to do that, but the diabetes has made my soles painful and burning; so i have stopped, i have walker at home, a tread mill that i use

Well, I fully agree with you, about the speech that walking, it's all good health!
I am unfortunately a person basically lazy, if I can avoid to walk, often using public transport.
I'm wrong! I ought to walk at least 1 km a day.
Even if I do this walk in a public park because in the city, breathing the pollution. This is true for me as for anyone who wanted to walk, best done in the middle of "green."

Walking is a great way to excersise- and very easy to do. If you dont live where its -25 or 110 in las vegas. But if you can walk for 30-60 mints. per day... it is great for you. I know as I do it. 4 or 5 times a week here.

Yes walking is for one and all from kids to elders and senior citizens. It not only keeps us fit and healthy but it also improves our posture. If we walk at park we get lot of oxygen and vitamin D which is very essential for bones health. walking also tones our skin. We also get some good friends. We can improve our social life also by interacting with society. So walk and walk.

You're right about that! I myself enjoy walking. Even if I don't break a sweat while walking, still I know I'm getting the benefits of walking.
Sometimes before sleeping, my husband and I do some late walks. Just to burn some calories before going to bed.
Plus its our extra bonding time together.
Keep walking! :)

I also share your views regarding walking. I never leave a chance to walk. Even in office I do all the walking to keep me fit. I have observed that my colleagues who use a peon to send their files to office have put on more weight as compared to those who keep running to office with the files. Secondly or parking place is a little far from the main office so in order to avoid walking people park their vehicle nearby, but somehow I prefer to park my vehicle in the parking slot as it gives me opportunity to walk. Walking keeps everyone fit.

I think walking is the best low-impact exercise we can do. Combine it with a little brisk walking from time to time just to improve your cardiovascular endurance. But one thing I really like about walking is that I get to admire nature, get a whiff of fresh air, and actually make new friends along the way. (I live in a large neighborhood where old and big trees still line the streets
