No warning! Just an email..

I have been working as an independent contractor for a political survey company for about 4 years. The company was purchased by employees about a year after I started, when the founder passed from cancer. Things had been going smoothly for quite a while. Yesterday, I checked my email and the company had gone belly up..expired..No warning, just an good bye email. I will miss the intermittent paycheck. Anyone have a similar situation?

boy... maybe they could have been alittle more caring. Rather than just an email. I had a job once- paid us on friday, went back to work monday and found doors chained, A sign said he have gone fishing.... they never cam eback.
